^Well said! I don't have issues with my truck, I love it and works for what it is intended for, which is hauling bulky stuff which I can't with my Highlander. If issues should arise with this truck through the years and it is not worth keeping it. Then I would not hesitate to trade it in, it is that simple. Life is too short to worry about things that you don't have to worry about!

That is what I told those fanboy's over at coloradofans.com 5 months ago when I told them I was trading my 15 Colorado in for a new 2016 Tacoma. My arse is just now getting healed up over the pounding from the bow-tie fanboy's.

You made the right choice. I test drove three different Canyons and they all had fit and finish issues that were unacceptable. My Taco has been perfect so far.

I have a TRD Sport. Not a single issue with the truck. I just can't understand why Toyota has been refusing to offer a seat height adjustment. Not a single 2nd edition had one either. They addressed all of the other shortcomings of the 2nd generation except that one.

only 1200 miles on my 2016 = no problems = 3.5 has plenty of power, 20.9 mpg on this tank, handles & rides great, it gets lot of good comments. Last week a cop was directing traffic around a accident, he put his hand up, stopped traffic, walked up to me, ask me a couple of ??, told me he liked my truck & got traffic going again. = if I have any issues I'll post them.

I too traded in a 98 RAV4 for my 16. This is my first Tacoma, but have owned many Toyota vehicles. I was not worried about buying a Gen 3 Tacoma in its first year because I have a 2014 Corolla that has also been trouble free (2014 was the first year of the Gen 11 Corolla redesign).

The RAV4 was a soft top, so a little Tacoma wind noise does not bother me. I drive all my vehicles with a light foot, so the transmission shifts fine to me.

I know there will be warranty issues with every car company, but I am expecting to get close to 190,000 trouble free miles on my Tacoma just like I did with my RAV4.

I will drive this truck into the ground like all my other Toyota's. The only thing I hate is the 4wd shift knob. The computer takes too long to engage 4H and even longer to make 4L work, sometimes it takes 2 attempts..

First creating this thread likely wont help to what you allude to. People have their opinions and everyone has different backgrounds and on an internet forum not everyone knows everyone's background. Some people have owned multiple tacomas across all the platforms and though they may not have a 3rd gen have legitimate concerns and issues whether driving one or learning more as they roll out from the new owners. Some of us have alot of mechanical knowledge others only speculate. Others this is their first Tacoma and have their blindsides up thinking that this truck is infallible and that its just hate from others who raise very valid issues/points. Of course there are those trolls or few that just say things to say things, but that dosent mean that anything negative should be ruled out when discussing the new Tacoma or that you should listen to it either, same for you should take caution when listening to new owners who just spent $39k on a new truck who of course are going to be defensive and likely not wanting to admit flaws/issues or have little familiarity or are new to tacomas not that that is bad. In the end as you will find with most things in forums and even our great forum is you have to be honest with yourself, research, try not to get your feelings hurt and decide for yourself. Is the new Tacoma terrible of course not, are there some issues whether minor or not, of course, the same can be said for every generation. Starting this thread though honestly will only bring a lot of fanboy kind of praise and like minded thinking, trolls who just want to bash anything about the new truck legitimate or not and then the eventual degrading into stupid keyboard bickering, honestly OP I would just decide for yourself and look through the countless other threads about owners thoughts, opinions, issues, etc.

Appreciate your opinion. But this thread was useful for my purposes. Nothing to do with hurt feelings. It solidifies my opinion that people make incorrect assumptions and out right have no idea what they are talking about. If the overwhelming response would have been the truck is a POS, I would have accepted that and counted my blessings that I was lucky and got what so far has been for me a excellent machine. I genuinely wanted to know if there was a general breakdown in Toyotas quality control. As I said I appreciate you have an opinion but it was nowhere on point as to the purpose of this thread.

I love my 3rd Gen! If my D&$k would fit in the exhaust pipe, I'd make love to it! Lol

Joking aside, I really dig this truck, so much that I traded a 2016 trd sport for a 2016 trd sport with all the bells and whistles to include the JBL package. I truly see myself keeping this thing until the tires fall off

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Any new design is going to have problems to be worked out in the first couple years. No vehicle is perfect. I'm sure the 3rd gen is a fine truck and will uphold the Toyota standards like all Toyota trucks that came before it.

color was one of the reasons, but I really wanted the premium tech package with JBL. Here in WA, the heated seats are definitely a must have. My first sport was more of an impulse buy than anything but I'm glad I eventually got what I wanted. I lost 2k on the trade in but I scored with paying only $500 over invoice for this one that came with all the goodies....updated all weather mats, bed mat, tip, bed mat etc. a learning lesson for sure but well worth it

My 3rd gen is my 3rd tacoma (2006, 2013, 2016). I love the 3rd gen. The technology they put into the 2016 is awesome and love the moon roof. I have had no major issues at this point. I think most Taco owners are DIY-type people so the small issues are fun to tackle. I am very happy with mine.
