Had a gen 2 taco for 10 years. Bought a gen 3 2018 platinum. I never liked the way the engine/trans combo worked. My wife hated it and refused to drive it.Bought a silverado high country double cab short bed lots of bells and whistles 6.2 V8. Smooth, quiet, powerful.Taco was getting 19mph and the silverado is giving me 18. Yes I know it won't fit in certain places and I got a great deal on a long term waranty. I appreciate the tips I have read in this forum and will remember my gen2 fondly and this very useful forum. GTS Bruce

I think my pops just picked up a high country off road as his retirement gift to himself, his first new car purchase at almost 70 years old. As a bigger dude it was really nice to sit in the cab and have so much room, and the short bed was bigger and taller than my taco's bed which seemed nice. His highway MPG seemed close to the taco but the "around town" MPG was pretty poor. Price tag was like 2 Tacoma's too.

I actually did the opposite. I traded a 14 Silverado I bought new for my 19 OR. After my brake system failed I grew a huge distrust of my Silverado. It rode so nice and looked good though.

That was your 1st mistake, trading a 2nd gen for a 3rd gen.

Hope the Silverado isn't your 2nd mistake.

I traded my 2013 trd or dcsb for a 2019 trd or dcsb and I absolutely love feeling like I have a nicer truck with leather, heated seats, sunroof, iq and all the other bullshit my truck has but I hate the motor, hate the tranny and im afraid to scratch it, bring it to the city, get it dirty, etc. I bought a 1st gen just to have a truck I can use hard... Everyday I wish I had my 2nd gen back with no rust that was the perfect truck!

I was gonna spend that kind of money will be on an F150 with the eco-boost. Better truck all around. Glad to hear you’re happy with it I was a GM guy for 20 years but the new ones just don’t really thrill me.

Worst part is that it’s already worth less than the 2018 tacoma he traded in.

Did the exact same with my 2005. Traded it in for a Silverado. It was a showroom Silverado and I enjoyed that truck! In the end, my love for the Tacoma has me back for another. Enjoy the Silverado! It’s a fine truck.
