I hope the Chevy works out for you, that 6.2 is a monster! I used to have a coworker who had a 6.2 Sierra and that truck could get stepping in a hurry.

Thanks man, its a foot in the door and I can buy over my active duty time into VA pension which is nice, etc. etc. FOD is totally worth the drive, I used to do it every weekend from Bordentown area, but ya man, check it out and if not snag a CRF450 and rip it with the kid, you wont regret those memories made, promise you!

Best of luck with the Chevy, I just did the opposite, after being a GM truck guy for over 30 years, I had so many problems with my last three I finally moved to the Taco. My wife called my last GMC a death wagon and refused to drive it after having the steering go out on her. Transmission, AC, steering, electrical, electronic, and finally motor issues had me on a first name basis with the repair shop team. I finally threw in the towel and gave up, I hope you have better luck.

^^This right here^^ Two of my neighbor had the same exact problem. One ended up with a Tundra and the other with a Tacoma. Problem SOLVED! Nonetheless, good luck OP otherwise I’ll see you soon, lol.

This gen 3 2018 Platinum you speak of......you should have kept, as the Platinum would certainly be a 1 of a kind on a Tacoma & would be a great collector investment. o_O
If you are speaking about a Tundra, then should probably post on the Tundra forum

I had a 2003 GMC 2500 HD - I loved that truck, right up until the breaking system tried to kill me. Coming up to a T intersection where you have to turn left or right, I pressed on the break as the light turned red, and the petal dropped to the floor - zero brakes. All the break lines split and I just missed t-boneing another car. When I looked under the truck it looked like a sprinkler system was going off. GM did nothing about it, and our illustrious gov backed GM.
Then again I went under my new 2020 Tacoma to check the torque of the u-bolts as mentioned in other threads, and found them to be not much more than finger tight...
Its’s 6 of one / half dozen of another. they just don’t care anymore, and we let them get away with it.

I went from a 2015 Silverado LTZ to my Tacoma. Loved the Chevy & would go back to one in a second. Zero problems in the few years I had one. Got better gas mileage with a 5.3L V8 than my Tacoma currently gets & had way more bells & whistles. I just wanted something smaller and the Taco looks way better.

I've had an '04 Silverado since '07 which I use as my tow rig. Hands-down the best truck I've ever had! 90% of the time I drive it, it's towing something, generally long-distance. I have the 5.3, I'm running two trans oil coolers (one with it's own fan). The truck is getting a bit long in the tooth and I generally travel to some remote areas so my original plan had been for my next truck to replace it. I'm not a fan of the new Silverado's for various reasons, many of which have already been talked about here. The Tundra's felt too out of date for me. In the end I decided to keep the Silverado.

OP You just have to do what feels right for your situation. I hope you enjoy your new truck!

The big gas V8 they put in GM trucks has serious balls at least you got the package with the 6.2

    Good luck

Couldn't agree more with this post. I was a Chevrolet tech back in the day and it baffled me how much warranty work came in and how quick they were to say "It's under warranty". I left that job so quickly because there was no money to be made when everything is under warranty. I've always said Chevy makes a good body but a shit engine and Ford makes a good engine but a shit body. If they could both have a kid that would be one hell of a truck.

Dude is one of the original 3rd gen trolls. I kind of admire him for making it this long with no perma ban, lol. Takes finesse not crossing the line.

Birmingham? I was in MS for a year and it was okay, we shall see. But I really enjoyed my time in AZ and NJ.

My sister in law and brother in law are finishing up residency in pheonix. They like AZ but miss Washington.

Check out the Alabama thread. Few guys in Birmingham and the area. Very active
