Just Trying to "Help" a TacomaWorld Member

I just saw this on facebook market place. I don't know anything about the seller or truck other than it is in Baltimore, MD. The URL to the ad is:

That is definitely a scam. 3 pictures total, crazy low price - Look at how pixelated those images are, they were definitely just grabbed and re-saved off the web from who knows where. Probably some legit older ad

 

If its too good to be true, it usually is. Its probably best practice not to post items in the BST forums if you're not actually the one selling. Although your intentions seem good, some poor soul may end up getting scammed using the link you provide here.

 

Dollars to donuts the seller is going to ask for some kind of money up front, a deposit due to "demand" and then you'll be ghosted.

I see these $800 - $1500 "low mileage, must sell quick" ads for Tacomas and 4runners all over Facebook and Craigslist around here, they are always scams. Some just want your email and phone number to sell to 3rd parties, some are looking to take your money and run if you're unfortunate enough to fall for it.

 

Trust free frame.

I'd be suspicious of any local ad selling a Tacoma. You could walk outside and yell Toyota Tacoma for sale! and find a buyer with in an ear shot. No problrm selling any Tacoma in these parts.

 

No joke. And if they really wanted to sell it quick, they could take it to literally any dealership and get that asking price.

 

This is red flag number 1, 2, and 3 for anyone who clicks on this thread. I'd encourage you to delete the thread, as mods are going to anyways. Hopefully it'll alleviate you catching any sort of BST violation for posting for sale items for someone else, as we all know it wasn't your intention to mislead anyone.

 

Always check the seller's profile. If it looks like this, report it as a scam.

 

OP could be a cousin of the Nigerian Prince trying to unload the truck for cheap.

 

I'd bet my 1000 yet to be given trophy points on it.

All of you have every reason to be skeptical. I'm skeptical of every SELLER and people are just as skeptical of me when I'm in the role of a seller. It doesn't take long, however, to figure out if you are talking to someone whose words and deeds match and it certainly isn't rocket science...

Mods - do whatever you think is best.

 

Maybe the seller is just a super duper nice guy willing to travel anywhere in the country to deliver this crazy low mileage, immaculate 1st gen to the first person with 1200 clams?

So you assume responsibility having no idea if its legit or not? I'm on your side, and hope you just delete it before mods have to, because I don't think you had bad intention. But if TW allowed members to just post for sale links to other peoples (not members) items, this BST section would be a real shit show.

 

This ad is a textbook example of a scam. Mods and members work hard to ensure scams on Tacomaworld are kept to a minimum. Posting this bs ad in a serious manner is a slap in the face. We can’t be promoting these scams.
