As with a lot of things. I guess a winch is something you really don't want failing at the wrong time.
Well thanks for the info guys. May wait to do it because of time, but I probably should check mine at some point

If I don't grenade my poor, lunchbox locked 7.5" diff, I may be able to be talked into 37s :anonymous:
And if I do, you can all laugh at me.

It seems to be an issue. If I told you your brand new truck came off the lot with only 3 quarts of engine break in oil, would you change it and put in 6 quarts of synthetic or just leave it and know it's gonna destroy itself sooner then later? Being lazy and doing half ass work is not the way to ensure your off road toys actually work when you need them. Kurt had 2 different winches lock up on him before he finally changed the grease out in his Smittybilt. I don't know of anyone else who has had a problem with theirs AFTER changing the grease out. They seem to be very reliable once that simple thing is done. I'd suggest making it happen. A tube of Mobile 1 synthetic is sub $10 at any auto parts store.

Yadda yadda, I hear ya. I bought a tube of grease, it's getting done tonight before it gets installed. Everyone can rest easy

Greased the winch, 4 coats of bed-liner on the bumper, got everything mounted.
Still need to put the fairlead on and spool the winch... I'll paint the ugly white behind it while I'm cleaning up from trimming for 35s

Not to sugar coat it but tubing sucks donkey dong! I'm pretty sure my plates are tacked in and I dumped a tube of seam sealer on each side, and now my wipers randomly turn on if I hit a puddle on the trail. Don't use a flux core welder on the tin foil that is Toyota sheet metal.

haha definitely not expecting this to be fun, but the results will be. Gonna tub a full inch beyond where my tires hit so I never need to touch my firewall again

Just want to be a realist, not the usual pics of an angle grinder, another of the hole, que the pic of an IPA with feet up on a camp chair in the garage (#garagefablife), and then a nicely welded up hole with the tire not hitting anything.
