Got one of these free with a lifetime subscription on it from a geek buddy who buys 'surprise packages' of electronics by weight on Goodwill auctions. It works well and coincidentally the display and colors of the unit would match well to the stock 07 Tacoma.

Does anyone else have this model and if so, where did you mount it, and how did you route the antenna wire?

Did some preliminary testing this morning on my commute, just to see if I want to bother with a semi-permanent mount.

The 'Car Kit' includes a suction mount for the cradle for the unit, a 12v power cord and an antenna. I set the antenna on the dash, used the FM Transmitter at 88.3 (a dead zone on my radio) and set the unit in the cupholder and gave it a shot.

    Findings:

    - It cuts out with a signal loss every once in a while. Probably attributable to not having a clear 360 degree shot at the sky...mounting outside as recommended would probably solve this
    - Sound quality sucks. I'm sure it would improve a little with a direct connection to the stereo instead of the FM transmitter, but it's still nothing to write home about. Very compressed, muddy, lots of sibilance in the highs and muffled farty lows.
    - The FM transmitter actually works better than others that I've had the misfortune to try over the past decade and a half.

In conclusion, I'd never pay to subscribe to this, but as long as it's arriving free, I'll keep it and use it. I won't permanently mount anything but use the suction mount and figure out a non-destructive way to route the antenna wire and try sticking it on the cap roof or something.

To describe the sound of Sirius, take a wad of cotton and place in each ear. Then take the cardboard core tube from 2 rolls of paper towels and hold one up against each ear and listen through it.

There is a Lexus cable you can buy, it will hook up from the sat radio to the sharkfin type on the roof, if you have one. The use a auxiliary plug? If you have, for sound
