Another one of those "pie in the sky" numbers......about 99% of what you hear about K&N Filters, as well as most of what K&N has to say themselves for that matter, is pure hype. A stock engine won't pull any more air than the engine can use....and the stock air filters/air box is capable of flowing MORE than that. Aftermarket filters on a stock engine do NOT increase HP, nor do they increase MPG's....It's that simple. They DO make more noise, which many people translate as more power! It isn't JUST K&N. NO aftermarket filter will "supercharge" an engine. They cannot and will not force more air in than the engine draws on it's own.

The ONLY difference in filters ability to pass air is CLEAN vs DIRTY....

Anyone claiming otherwise, I have some ocean front property in Arizona I'd like to make you a deal on!

These threads are always funny, the oiled air filter threads and the CAI threads always start off with people asking a legit question and mostly getting legit answers until the negatives show up. I'll bet money every single CAI thread has a post in it with somebody saying "the tacoma already has a cold air intake..."

My personal experience, I've never had a problem with an oiled filter. I was using the TRD filter for a long while and only switched to an AFE dryflow filter when I found a deal for one for 75% off the price. As long as you keep it cleaned and don't over oil it'll work well. Just check your intake past the filter every once in a while to make sure there's no dust or dirt slipping past and if you're really nervous you could have an oil analysis done every once in a while.

That's apparent, because if you did, you would back up your "I read it somewhere" bullshit with facts to support your statement. Not a fan and also could give a shit, but if I posted on here that I read "somewhere" that the earth was flat, I'll bet I could expect to here from you, unless it really is.

I read it in a mag in the dentist office. Next time I will take a pic for the skeptical aholes on this forum. Google it if you want proof.
