K&N air filters for V6 Tacoma

Is it worth any kind of gain swapping the factory air filter for a K&N as far as horsepower or gas mileage benefits?

What was stated above you get NOTHING from it. No MPG, HP, PERFORMANCE GAINS. Stick with the OEM paper one.

 

Could also do afe dry filter

 

Could but that does absolutely nothing as far as any gains as well. Only thing it does save is on new OEM filters

Plus the K&N lets fine particles through to increase the wear on the engine.

K&N will make your truck louder though, if that's your thang.

 

I would be careful with the AFE Dry filter too. There was a post on here about some dude with a damaged engine and Toyota won't fix it due to the AFE. Don't want to start a debate on that topic, but may be worth checking out.

 

Maybe a complete K&N Intake would but not just the drop in filter

Ai. Can't believe people still buy into this K&N hoopla. They had their hay-day back in the Fast and Furious days. Probably sold plenty. With all the performance data, and information out there, I can't believe people are still fooled into products like this. Remember the Tornado? Venom control module? And for those that have been in the Toyota truck scene for a while, the Deckplate mod? All worthless.

Which is exactly why Toyota doesn't use them out the door. They are sandbagging the EPA, saving the K&N gambit for the day they can't make the right numbers otherwise. It's not a new ploy though, all the OEs are making the same play.

Don't tell though, their bots will try to shut down this site if word gets out.

 

At best they're WORTHLESS

At worst they will literally destroy your engine because they don't filter as well as OEM.

Edit: here's the report I posted in the thread about that guy fucking up his engine that had an AFE ProDry. Pay particular attention to page3.

OEM filter efficiency 99.96%
AFE ProDry filter efficienty 86.8%

Don't put that crap in your truck, especially if you offroad!
