Thinking about putting a CAI on my 2015 Tacoma 4.0 and I wanted to ask a question. Do you have to do any reprograming after installation due to the increased air flow or do you just get in it and drive?

    Well no.

But your stock Intake is actually a Cold Air Intake. So, you'll get a cool sound and no performance increase with the K&N.

You already have one from the factory, all you are adding is noise. Zero HP gains, Zero MPG gains. Waste of money, and not sure on the reprogramming. But if you search this topic has been discussed 10,000,000 times

So all I need to do is install a high flow air filter in my stock air intake and I have a CAI.

The K&N is not my first choice since they used a oil filter which will clog the MAF sensor which will make the Check Engine Light aka CEL go on and the truck will drive shitty. Look for a non oil filter element from AEM or AFE. The gains are minimal unless you add the URD MAF calibrator to enhance the airflow. Also it would help if you have headers and good quality cat back exhaust to see any real gains. Tuning is key to making any horsepower, etc...

BTW I prefer the snorkel over the CAI but that's me: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/airflow-snorkel-group-buy-3.474811/

Thank you. Was just searching the forums for K&N info and your post just summed it up. The websites selling them were stating 10 HP gain and I thought that is a pretty big increase for just an air filter. Also wondered about programming, etc. Sticking with the stock as it works just fine. :)
