K&N cold air intake

Up for sale is my K&N intake for the 4.0L i had this for about two years with no problems. It looks like it is missing one of the brackets for the heat shield (must of never had it) never had a problem without it because it bolts in two other places.

Did you notice any mpg or hp changes at all?

 

no change in mpg good or bad. did seem to open up the top end a bit. sounds cool too

What shape is the filter in? Looks a little dirty or dry in the pics.

 

x3 for a good CAI. i have one on my truck with the stainless pipe. it might help your MPGs a tiny bit if you actually drive responsibly. however..........it sounds so good that you wont want to

The pleats look to be misaligned...
possibly from cleaning improperly !?

I didn't need proof of receipt...
just emailed them a picture of the old one.

sent me a spiffy new element free... including shipment

btw... my first element lasted nearly 12 years
about then I found some dry rot on the pleats...

Was likely due to the fact that I never rotated the element
after cleaning that.

I hated looking at the metal seam...
so that was always turned down outta view.

Later came to find out that if it were turned once in awhile...
that moisture wouldn't saturate that specific area of the pleats. (gravity)
The saturation/drying of that area on the pleats is what caused the dry rot.

So rotating the element on occasion would likely make the element last even longer.

But hey... 12 years of use... is purdy good IMO.

 

The filter is good just needs to be oiled as i washed it on removel. The fins have always been bent a little ever since it was new.
