Ok, did you notice any improvement in low end torque at higher speeds of around 70-75 mph?

Yea, that’s my biggest concern is all the dirt an improperly oiled filter will allow to pass through. But in my situation I don’t go off-road in the truck really so if that changes I may go back to paper. Thanks for the info!

i recommend going back to the OEM filters then. much better for engine longetivity. the k&n filters flow better because they filter out less dirt. probably won't make a difference until you get a ton of miles on it but if you want to keep the truck for a long time, it's something to consider.

Ok yea it definitely seems like the majority is not a fan of the k&N filter. I’ll probably just call it a loss on the k&n and put paper filter back in soon. Thanks for the feedback!

Any chance you have a link to that data? I'm interested in giving it a read.

I've had K&N filters on various vehicles throughout the years. After using them, doing various research, and evaluating the filters themselves, I have to say I'm not a K&N fan. General consensus for those in the know is that you'll get marginal performance with drastically worse filtering. I've since stopped using K&N filters.

Put one in a frontier I had about a decade ago it started idling low and a little rough. Waste of $40. Went back to stock and stuck with that for subsequent vehicles

I personally don't think any power or torque gain in a 2.7 is worth buying it for that reason. Especially if improper oiling caused MAF, etc issues.
But, it is a personal choice, just like any modifications.
Some people here have purchased one and not had any issues. While others have.

If l know that there were performance mods that produced notable gains I'd be the first to buy them. I just haven't found any yet.
