My secondhand '17 came with a K&N setup. I live in a dusty place and don't care for more noise, so I found a stock airbox on Craigslist for $140, and sold the K&N for $250 the next day. That silly cone didn't give me a good feeling about how it might age in a dusty environment. Stock is good, stock is reliable, and is backed by decades of R&D.

I had noticable throttle improvement with my k&n. I paired it also the the afe throttle body spacer and slight throttle response Improvement and low end to mid power increase. I'm feeding this with 92 octane also

Personally, this is what I did, and would recommend for 3.5v6 owners:

HPS silicone tube and TRD velocity increaser:

    Good man.

I was a fan of oiled filters for a long time but when I stated to go off-road more often and saw dust in my intake tube, never again.

What a mistake it was running oil filter on my Tacoma.

K&N systems filter very poorly. Go off-road, drive in dusty condiitions and check your intake tube. You will throw that oiled filter in the garbage with disgust.:)

Why would anyone choose to clean and oil filters for little to no benefit?

Why????? This is a truck. You won’t see performance BUT YOU WILL get more induced dirt- NOT GOOD for your engine.

First question everyone should ask when people post of engine problems should be……Do you have a CAI?
