Yup. There is a small red rubber insert that plugs up that secondary intake port. I've never had it open, I didn't see the purpose of it for daily driving. I have it paired with a TRD exhaust, and found the throttle response better but there is no local dyno to see what if any gains have been made.

I had the K&N on my 05 and liked it. I have the TRD on my 07 now paired with the TRD catback. I have no complaints on it. Anyone keep track of gas milage gains? With the K&N on my 05 (stick) I only gained about 1-2mpg. When I bought my 07 (auto) the intake was already on there, so I can't report any mileage gains. Im curious as to what the JBA headers and Y-pipe would do for the truck now?

I know "someone" that hydrolocked his motor with one of those - fine for an X runner but I wouldn't want to go through ANY water with that one! :)

I'm just going to replace my stock element with a K&N replacement and start there. $45 vs $300. Although everyone contests the fresh air intake, what about the stock Tacoma taking it from the fender well instead of the front in the grill somewhere. As a dusty road frequenter, this is a serious consideration. And with a K&N, I'll be able to clean it quickly, frequently, and quit sending dead filters to the landfill.

i put on the TRD CAI myself, and the second i started it up i could hear the difference and feel it in the acceleration too.

Neither you get more out of the afe pro dry s air filter alone, so why waste your money?

Sounds like your priority is the filtering ability of your air filter. If that is the case, then be aware that a clean K&N (oiled cotton gauze) filter has about the worst filtering ability out there.

Might want to do some research on air filter media and filtering abilty vs. airflow. It is a trade off....

Personally I would not run an oiled cotton gauze filter in dusty conditions.

I have the URD CAI and I like it. Gains may be minimal but, when you add exhaust and the URD MAF calibrator. There is a nice little gain to be had. I don't expect the Tacoma to run like a race car it is, a truck after all. I just like the fact that it runs and looks a little different/better than 90% of the other Tacomas on the road.

Just had my K&N pulled off for the TRD. Night and day difference. The K&N sounds much better but the performance blows. I even dyno'd :)

URD for sure! it sounds awesome, i noticed immediate acceleration improvement.

Sure you cant go deep in mud or driving in lakes, but I never would anyways. :)

I have a K&N on my truck, I just love the sound when I get on it. Little bit of a performance gain from it, but nothing spectacular.

I installed at K&N 67 intake and was not happy with it at all. MPG suffered and didn't think sound was worth the $300. Luckily, autoanything had a 90 day return policy. Everything worked out, glad to have my stock intake back in, life is good!
