I feel like every time you look at the collection in your garage something fun ends up happening

 

hmm sometimes but not always the 98 has been sitting for awhile i need to get plates on it but other then that its just sitting. nothing new for the si really because its expensive and i want to see what the new integra looks like. nothing new with the trailer besides the tent being torn down to clean. and the truck is the same just with more parts off of it

Same. I reread The Mysterious Island.

 

I finished the latest in the Monster Hunter International series. Kinda pulpy, but a lot of fun.

 

I'm gaining a growing appreciation for pulpy stuff now that I've burned through anything of substance.

Would I need to start that series at the beginning? I'm deep into 40k books and they're really not meant to be read in order at all unless they are part of a subseries.

 

Yeah, they progress chronologically, though there are only 8 books in the main series thus far. (Also includes one side trilogy and a bunch of short stories). Basic premise: monsters are real, and governments want to hide that from the public while mercenaries earn bounties shooting the crap out of aforementioned creatures.

Larry Correia is probably my favorite active author right now. MHI is his main world. Other projects include the Hard Magic trilogy (1930s alternate history/dark fantasy/noir) and Saga of the Forgotten Warrior (high fantasy, three books out of five published so far). He's also pretty good at releasing a couple books a year.

 

I’m in dire need of another laundry files or another critical failures novel.

Try The Mayor of Noobtown. It's LitRPG, but I didn't hate the series as much as I normally hate LitRPG

If you need light hearted adventure fantasy, try The Cycle of Arawn, or The Spellmonger series.
