Sounds a lot like what Maner did, working in the Zinc mine. He'd fly out, work a few months, and then be back for a few months. He seemed to make decent money, though I can imagine it's not easy on the body.

Or you could get your welding certs and do underwater welding. Makes great money and it's the same way.

With the Kiddo though, just go into IT like ol @Shellshock here. work Remotely and then you can go to Shamrock and ATR as much as you want.

 

It’s easy to get into IT if you know how to google. Pay is decent from the start and lots of room to go up.

I’m fully remote which is pretty great.

@Tigerian works at the plant in town, there’s like 5 of them. Basically park the truck while someone loads it, then drive it to the site, empty it, come back. Can be some long hours during the summer but you also get a good chunk of the year off (when it’s below freezing).

What about disabling windows update and removing Cortana and internet explorer? Does that help? Made mine faster.

 

I use a Mac so I don’t have that problem

 

I like gaming, so Mac is a terrible choice for that.

I don't work at a cement factory. I work at a ready mix plant. Cement is one of the ingredients to many of the products we make, mostly various types of concrete.
