damn that sucks... with minskys idk what it is tbh... you could say oh well they started hiring highschool kids and it went down! well thats not accurate since they have always had highschoolers doing a lot of the work. its now more adults that tbh couldnt make it in life and work there last time i went (2 months or so ago) and just dont care... the pizza and calzone i got were not even fully cooked... had all the wrong stuff on it but they claimed it was mine and they had no other orders at that time so who knows anymore...

so for bbq if you are fine with a line! go to slaps ive been told that its the best bbq in kc but you will have to wait in a line that sadly sits outside... they are located on the kck side of things.

553 Central Ave, Kansas City, KS 66101

charbar is pretty good but you have to go to i think its westport? or parkvile for that. for me the westport location is better thou.

now a bit further away is wabash bbq its a small little join in excelsior springs but man it had the best burnt ends ive had to this day!

jackstack is alright but its more of a chain in my opinion then a local place but dont tell that to my mom she will say otherwise!

joes bbq is alright as well never was a big fan of it tbh

think thats about it for bbq that ive had recently

It's off the beaten path a bit, but in Independence, there's a place called A Little BBQ Joint. Al least there was when I moved away two years ago. Try the Potato Boat and the bacon chips. If you do go to Joe's KC BBQ, go to the one in the old gas station at 3002 W 47th Ave, Kansas City, KS 66103. It's the original location.

Building off some of the suggestions so far, though I am anything but a connoisseur:

Slaps is the shit, but true about waiting in line. Depending on when you get there, they may have sold out for the day, too

I second on Joe's in Lenexa

Jack Stack is alright, but there's better

I still have no idea why people rave about Wabash. Never been a fan of that place

3Halves in Liberty is decent enough, but I'm also biased with it being the closest barbecue/brewery to my house

Don't waste your time with Gates or Arthur Bryant's. They're two of the first/oldest, but there are much better options now.

Yeah, I agree. My brother in law was always on about em and never understood why.
I don't spring for bbq much, as I have @Mrs2Fang

Joe's is my go-to for a bbq sandwich. Rocket Pig is divine.
2nd up for a bbq sandwich is Pigwich.

forgot about pigwich! they have awesome sandwhiches and make their own pickles at the place. highly recommend that if you just want a sandwhich! fyi the fries are also really good but they are extra.

I start two weeks vacation this weekend. I'd be in the same boat if everything wasn't unraveling around me at work.

My crew lead just announced he was hired by one of our contractors for 160% of his current pay. There has been chaos

I like the 100 series as a daily and definitely a comfortable road tripper.

love the 100 series second fav fj right after the good ole iron pig!
buddy has owned a few in the past and he said they do okay with wheeling but shine best as a daily or a overland rig with light wheeling. the 80s series he has had (which has been a lot...) he likes to wheel with about it haha never liked it to much for like overlanding with since it rode pretty rough he said.
