Looks like you made it home. Were you able to stop at a BBQ place in KC?

Yep! Made it back today, and the truck did the usual Toyota thing - just needed to keep it fed. But, I was doing my usual thing (spending too much time looking at the neature), and was running behind. I settled for some mole at a hole in the wall next to a gas station in Lawrence. It was ok, but I figured any pizza or bbq joint was going to take a while and with all the deer carcasses on the road I did NOT want to be out after dusk.

Also, your toll people are not very gracious. Just prior to holy mole, I missed my turn to get off before the toll road, didn't have a lot of time to figure out the signage before going through the gates, and ASSUMED it was like literally every other toll road I've been on in this country in modern times where they snap your plate and you can pay online. The attendant couldn't understand how I could possibly have gotten on without a ticket, like I just drove through a ditch or something to bypass the system..I even said, "I must have just gone through the electronic lanes, not a lot of time to read at 75 MPH." I haven't been talked down to like that in decades. I eventually just gave up and asked "OK, look, I'm sorry, but what do I need to do to get off of this tollroad and get out of your state as quickly as possible?" That was a lot of bullshit for $1.75..

Yeah, I hate Kansas. I take the longer route just so I can avoid their toll roads. It's part of the reason I moved to Florida. The other part is the damn snow and having to drive with other idiots on the snowy roads, and no ocean. The taxes suck there too.

I have family there that I intentionally haven't talked to in probably 10-15 years -they apparently like it quite a bit. Explains a lot...

...but all snide jokes aside, different strokes for different folks, et al. I'm sure a lot of people really like it there, and good on them.

There's a pair of them near me. One of them used to be a show car but it's legal now. I'm not sure about the history of the other one but they run together on nice days.

Principle of the matter. I loop through Tonganoxie out to Topeka because I-70 sucks and toll roads can burn in hell. Also go out of my way to avoid them in Oklahoma.

Picked up these 2024 take offs on FB to switch out the Taco wheels in anticipation of getting the Taco back soon. I liked the black wheels better, but these don't look all that bad. Rides good too.
