The Wisconsin trip was before anyone from TW had met him.. he camped in my yard and @uploadadventure slept on my couch lol

Dude slept in the bed of his truck and then complained in the morning that bugs bothered him all night…

We were camping and doing the trans Wisconsin trail… he didnt pack any food and wanted to stop at McDonald’s.. there was one near the gas station but then he disappeared for like a half hour and no one knew where he went.. we nearly left without him.. and honestly should have

When we got up north and most people bailed for home me and @Tigerian continued north for a while longer and he kept following us around. Including down the super scratchy trail @Thatbassguy warned us about.

Random anecdote. I don't know anything about off road driving in trucks. Never owned a truck, but I've done a lot of motorcycle trips. BDR type stuff. Quite a bit of it. Like 10,000 miles. I do it solo because I like to do my own thing, my own pace, no drama.

One day I'm in a little town out west. Meet some dudes doing the same route I'm on. We're all at the same motel. Chat. Usual -- where are you going, what section are you doing etc... They say, oh, we're headed out tomorrow if you want to join us. I figure, sure, that will be fine.

Morning comes. I like to get out on the trail early before the heat starts. Start early, end early, no rush, no high risk decisions that will break me or the bike is my philosophy. I walk over to the other room.

Dude is in his undies smoking a bowl, cleaning a pistol, eating a box of captain crunch cereal out of the motel ice bucket. I say, "Did I catch you at a bad time?" "no, just having a little breakfast and watching some TV."

Another dude comes out of his room smashing a few tallboys of Voodoo Ranger. At 730am. I say, "Voodoo Ranger? The breakfast of champions?" "Hahah, yes, it's like bread in a can."

I'm a little put off by this. Another 30 minutes goes by. Triple IPA is attaching zip ties to all sorts of loose bodywork on his bike. "had a little issue on the trail yesterday, so this is kind of broken." He finishes a pint of R&R while working.

Ok, these are clearly a bunch of degenerate twats. Broken bikes, stoned, alcoholics. I'm out. I say, "Well fellas, I'm going to get started. I have some miles to cover, so I'll meet you on the trail later."

A few hours later, I stop for lunch. They pass by, stop, we chat. Triple IPA grabs a Natty Ice from the sidebag, has two or three in the 10 minutes we're chatting. He's got a few pieces of his bike now strapped to the rear seat. "Loose gravel on one of those switchbacks caught me out." Captain Crunch pulls out a can of EZ Cheeze and sucks down half the can. They ramble off.

Realized then, I much prefer my solo trips.

lol yep for sure. Group trips are great… if you’ve been with the group before. Group trips with randos are definitely a gamble

    This description is perfect!

    :101010:

What a strange overall experience! Making the whole group wait forever at McDonald's was ridiculous.

He came on one of the first camping trips I set up, and once again had no provisions for anything. We ended up putting somebody's canopy tent over the top of his truck bed so he wouldn't get rained on all night.

He showed up to a mall crawler event in Illinois last year, I believe. Same sweatpants as always.

Ahhh... FR327... The old pinstripe road!

    Holy shit! WTF??

I've been very lucky with the members who have shown up at my events. So far no crazy fucks or dumb fucks (except for me).

But, I really do enjoy my solo trips as well.

Had a fucking semi driver blow through an intersection we were working on, nearly took out 3 guys, plus the bucket truck (that I was up in). All so he could speed forward to a neighborhood that is clearly marked "no trucks".

Fuckass didn't see that we are government... Cops pulled him over, then he tried to fist fight one of them.

    Bitch got his titties whooped.

Yeah, it's hot. Been up in the bucket for 5 hours rebuilding half an intersection that a different idiot trucker destroyed because he cut a turn and "forgot" he had a loaded trailer....

Signals. ALSO the line tech..... Didn't know what color his grounds were. And tore off my wiring labels so then he didn't know which wires went to which signals.

And they pay them guys decent money.

It's a bitch. Supposed to have 6-8 guys on this crew.

We have 2. And one of them is leaving in a month.

It's not the worst job, and my supervisor is a pretty cool cat, but damn are there serious managerial and personal issues with our adjacent departments (that directly affect us)

All the multi cable wire comes in the same black looms. I color tape them according to which signal heads they go to (if there's red tape on the wire, it goes to the signal head with the red tape on it)

Some of the geniuses cant figure that part out, but they make 6-10k more than I do.

AND most of them can't use the bucket truck or do the hardware side of things :annoyed:

meh not really... the klx ive had for a bit now and was trying to build it into an enduro but at its core its still a heavy outdated dual sport and i just wasnt happy with it. i plan to get a true enduro eventually once i find a good deal on one.
