Titans are cheaper than 2nd gen Tundras and are every bit as capable :boink:

I like the 5.7 but it was honestly gutless... I hated driving the tundra... Wanted to love it since I still do but it was one of the worst driving trucks I've ever driven. If I wanted a v8 I'd get a 5.0.

You're nuts. The 5.7 with ECT on in s mode will absolutely put your ass through the back of your seat.

Can't just pedal mash on anything post 2008, electronic throttles were mandated then. Gotta work with the engine. Also, Maintence is key.

I'd take a Tundra 5.7 over any and all of the American rod pitchers, and then I'd take a Datsun 5.6 over any of the American bearing-go-rounds

I will give you that the 5.0 is almost as easy to work on as the 5.7 (Yota obv, take that Ram cheese outta here)

I drove all the other v8 trucks the only one slower then the tundra was the 5.3 in the 1500 the tundras 5.7 has power but where tf is it? The thing feels like a taco with a bit more power tbh lol. The 5.0 and ram 1500 I test drove were much quicker off the line and more fun to drive over all. Also not the first haha my buddy prefer his first gen tundra over the 2nd Gen he has.
The 5.0 is a good motor but for the year range I wanted they had a couple odd quirks and people were wanting about 7k more then what I found my 2.7 eco for. So just wasn't worth it to me.

No I'm not lmao you can feather the big girl or floor it and it does the same thing moves slowly into traffic haha.

Also that's also not accurate I can stomp it in the 5.0 I test drove i can stomp it with my 2.7 and it will squat and get. So that again isn't true...

The 5.7 is a good motor it's reliable but minus the Chevy 1500 it was the most boring out of the full size truck engines and the truck overall sucked to drive. It was honestly disappointing...

Were you driving with the parking brake on? Lol everything you’ve said is the opposite of my experience

@Tigerian has driven a bunch of different trucks for work and still says the 5.7 tundra is better

I bought a used 09 Tundy 5.7 a few years ago. It now has 188k on it and I have no doubts in its performance or reliability. Easily the best power I’ve seen in all vehicles. Have to be careful not peel out.

The only other stock truck I drove was a Shelby inspired design Dodge did with their Dakotas. Used to drive a 93 with a 318 cubic inch v8 or 5.2 v8 efi that was quick too. It was a midsize though and not full.

My Tundra’s gearing and tranny and engine are great. Even the the the same stock cubic inch in my 00 z28 Camaro engine get smoked by my own Tundra.

haha no it wasnt on! that would have been pretty funny thou! ive driven a lot of trucks with test drives and family the 5.7 is a great motor but saying its a powerhouse just isnt right in my opinion.
i drove a few of the tundras before i gave up on them and started looking at tacos and frontiers but then decided to start looking at full size trucks since i was wanting more capability and found the 5.0 to be the most powerful and most overall fun truck to drive. the 3.5 eco was a lot of fun on the take off but it was kinda meh overall? i mean whats the point of a twin turbo v6 that gets the same mpg as a v8? id just go for the v8 at that point?

i did like the titans but didnt find them to be super powerful it felt idk just kinda good? idk how to explain that one? the big thing was i hated the new body style so couldnt get my self into one.

the gm twins were just meh? the interior sucked the drive sucked the turn radius sucked... the 5.3 that everyone boasts so much about felt like my 2nd gen taco just made more noise... the 6.2 was fun but maaan was it thirsty!

i cant remember what ram i drove i only drove it because a buddy of mine told me to at least try it... i think it was a 2021? it was good to drive and had good power buuut its a chrysler product so ya no even if i liked the thing i still didnt want it. i think it was about on par or a bit more then the tundras 5.7.

minus a few 3/4 ton trucks i drove which doesnt really apply here this is my overall thoughts that i can remember from when i drove them all back then.
the tundra didnt rank the lowest to me but it also didnt stand out and wasnt what i wanted.... no point in saying this because well toyota forum and toyoter be best thing in world lol. awesome trucks and very reliable but the tundra just wasnt it for me.

I mean, the tundra's and some 3rd gens did have a diff issue but I never heard of Tundra engine windows. Just 3rd gens and we almost saw 2 of those on the trip :(

I'm willing to trailer you out to ATR sometime for a lil gas money! I know that Jeep is rough on the ear drums on the highway.

meant for reliability standpoint not power haha. sorry should have clarified that one. the gen 1 2.7 eco has good power and torque for what it is and overall is a very reliable engine. plus no 10spd the big negative for the 3.5 eco was to get one that didnt have issues you must go newer which means id have to get the 10r80 again...

you caaaan find a 3.5 with the 6r80 buuut that puts you in the gen 1 eco and like cygnus has mentioned its legit the worst year range! the gen 1 3.5 eco is a mess of problems.

also my truck was 21k and is paid off so that also helps decide things lmao
