i am trying to be friendly with the local salesguy, a nice & cool young guy transplanted here from the east St Louis area
with a few other items of how their dealer service dept messed my truck up underneath in the past i can haggle them down if they wish to sale a car or not
I am a very loyal customer for 1/4 century
that must count for something in the dealing process?

If they're really nice I guess. They still have to make money. 8th gens are old and notorious oil burners. If they fixed it, it would be hard for them to break even at all. You can try but I wouldn't be optimistic. It's a pretty significant problem for a car that isn't really notable in any way, so it would be extremely hard to even find someone who wanted to make a project out of it. You could part it out; it takes a lot of time but you'd probably get the most money out of it that way. You could join some of the Corolla groups on FB and ask what they think. A lot of those people are always looking for parts and will have insight on buying and selling your gen. Any time I've sold a used car here in the midwest I haven't pulled jack for it, haha. That's why I'm giving mine to my sister. When I get a new Corolla she will be around the age where she will be getting her license, so I'll probably just make her pay for the gas to get the thing up there and make her pay for the clock-spring so she has a driver's side airbag and we can put that in for her. A little money in the pocket is better than nothing; the car itself has given me way more than I've put into it, so it's ultimately not a big deal that I won't be selling it for what I think it's worth, if that makes sense. If I wasn't doing that, I'd either Gambler 500 it or donate it to that Cars for Veterans organization.

ya having 4x4 is great in the winter but you are not invincible 4wd go dont mean 4wd stop lol a lot of people forget about that and drive stupid or they are dumb and just forget to engage it and spin out lol

i can say this for sure thou you wont ever see me in my car driving around in the snow unless its to try and take a quick pic haha

Well, obviously being careful is still a priority lol. You're not going to see me driving out here like it's not snowing but it definitely makes driving a bit less scary in the winter. All I'm saying is if you can drive a car in the winter this definitely is quite the upgrade.
The Civic is FWD isn't it? I can't see it doing bad. The thing I worry about most in the Corolla is losing traction or coming up on a hill everyone's going up slowly. That, and I'm sure being light doesn't help when you start slipping on ice. One advantage I do have over other sedans is my ground clearance. I know people like the lowered car look, but the ground clearance on this little thing comes in handy every day. I do pretty good in the winter considering, but I still avoid it at just about all costs. But with how light I am and my little grand touring tires, I've done pretty damn good I think. But I'd definitely choose the Taco any snowy day over the Corolla if I was able to.

and ya the civic is fwd it just sits low and has low pro wheels on it plus its torque likes to spin the tires easily lol so i just dont drive it

Ewwwwwww low pros lol. Yeah, I'd imagine the bumpers on the civics because they're so... Intricate? Idk how else to put it, probably catches a lot of debris too.

lol they can make $2 profit!!! for their 'less-than-stellar' service to me, perhaps i expect too much from them on the customer service side of it all
it does not and has not burned oil that i am aware of, just a leaky VCG is all
I did spray some FF all over the various body panels that are perforated so it doesn't rot any more lol :bananadead:
the heater blows HOT and the A/C is cold as ICE, brake lines are 'like new' :)

both are near fully dealer serviced for those 25 years :)
tacoma has been much more low maintenance than corolla
i bring them dealers profits much longer than most!
all about customer retention or so i thought

maybe they get excited when i bring them big folder in!

regularly scheduled maintenance is more than oil change every 3-5k miles
have not yet spent more than $1k for any one-time service yet, came close once for the whole 90k mile package!

Just wondering... you’re bringing up some nonsense about dealers, salesmen and whatnot.
