For real. The language of the rest of the letter doesn't seem to exclude states that aren't listed. I don't know if anybody outside of those states has ever had a frame replaced. I guess I could use the power of the internet to find out though.

more-than-normal is probably the key in that letter?

my truck is almost a 1/4 century old, mid west truck its entire life
nothing they can do for me they said
and they pleasantly hung up the phone

so the majority of my knowledge is via TW over the past year
and salvage yard visits with pics :curls:
i do have a relative with an '11 single cab and will have to ask if they received a letter

I salute you and your good nature towards the issue. I'm less than excited about it. I'm constantly eyeing different parts of my undercarriage thinking "is this worse than last time I looked?"

Colorado doesn’t use salt. Don’t understand why Missouri isn’t in there tho

reports are that Colorado does indeed now use it
i caught some at 11k elevation a month ago, different kind of salt but similar of sorts

its the kind that is supposed to be more 'plant friendly' if i heard proper

its called mag chloride used in various areas of the state :notsure:

not everywhere but in the front range,
and the stuff that was melting on the road way up on the top of i70 when everything else was frozen elsewhere baffled me

    Drink it up!
Colorado is at the forefront of magnesium chloride use in the West. Like most Western states, it long shunned salt, instead using sand for traction. Pitted and cracked windshields from flying rocks were the cost of driving in snow country.

But when sand is ground up by traffic, it becomes dust that hangs in the air — a major component in Denver’s infamous brown cloud. Sand pollution also turned creeks along Interstate 70 into beaches, and aquatic life suffocated under decades and tons of migrating sand pebbles.

i think i read that some of the Colorado towns that are way out in the mountains banned the use of that stuff

it looked like real gritty stuff on I-70 up there in the mountains, not like the stuff i see on the roads around here

melted spots tracked in from vehicles off the interstate is my guess
and then the icicles from the bottom of the mudflaps, I'm not sure where those were coming from?

I keep good documentation and should definitely add pics of the frame. I spray down the underside every time it gets above freezing as well. I can't really afford not to keep this truck for a long time (I'm a miser, the missus is a spender...). Aside from my taco having the 2TR-FE, the frame is the only thing I regret not knowing about before I bought it.

I also have a tendency to obsess, so 'tis a perfect storm.

i am beyond regret not knowing for 20+ years, its probably why i tend freak out over the pics I find on TW and obsess more than those located in CA assume i should :( they know nothing out west there

i still see a large number of the old small ford rangers on the roads around here (most are good looking condition on the exterior, some are not)
, they vastly outnumber the 95.5-'00 Tacomas here in the 'big' city

i worked out of an an early 90s S-10 work truck (mostly out of town), before the Tacomas came along, so i knew/know what a difference there is between the two lol
but have never driven an old Ranger so not sure?
