Can't get enough metal, personally. Though I'll listen to just about anything as long as it's loud.
It's a fun road, but didn't seem like anything too out-there. Done it a few times.

It's the switchbacks down that's got me scared, lol. I got this photo when I went down Hey Joe Canyon.

Well, hell, man. That's a shortie.

I'm not concerned about making it though. @Dex__43 had a fam drive a Tundra down that thing. I just don't like heights, lol. Even Hells Revenge first rock climb was scary as F.

Found this picture of before I hit the canyon. Not sure if the perspective can be seen that well, but you see the road disappear to the right around the wall.

I need to get back out to Moab again. Might be gong in April.

Found one more of the switchbacks:

Woooooo, got chills looking at that. So awesome and beautiful though.

2 Tacos and a 4Runner are tackling SW CO in late June, or you mean details on the canyon I hit up?

It's great out there, y'all will love it.
Need to get back that way, too. Need to catch up with some friends in Silverton.

Hell yeah, I'm excited. I can't wait to see Ouray as well. The Ranch on Netflix before it got all sad after Rooster "died" was such a good show to me. The opening credits showed a town nestled in a valley like you see from Black Bear Pass and it was Ouray.

I considered it a few years ago and chickened out. It's actually death level dangerous and I'm a pus-pus about heights. Be aware though that they've been doing work on some of the forest road passes to keep erosion down. Georgia Pass is normally doable for me, but the new "tiers" on the long steep part had me making a very questionable 42 point turn to go back. So even some of well documented passes have changed slightly.

Yeah, I'm not good with heights either and that's why it's scary to me. One wrong move and it could be the end.

But to me, this is something I need to do. I need to take risks and build my self-confidence. MOAB had given me a whole new perspective.

That is a good point, and with the increase in traffic these roads have seen in recent years, the more quickly they change/erode.

That said, Black Bear was the first major offroad trail I went on. Keep a level head, don't be an idiot, and exercise caution where prudent, and everything will be fine.

But yes, I was also in a YJ. Tiny compared to a 2nd gen.

I'm weird with heights. Looking down from quarry ledges doesn't really phase me. If I'm tied off to something I'm generally fine. Don't make me go up a ladder.

After my trip in MOAB, I have no doubt I can tackle this too. It doesn't make it any less scary.

I pissed off the Top of the World about 2 feet away from the ledge.

MT for the win. Stick it in low gear and drive.

Did this at the top of mount Bierstadt to celebrate my first 14er. Worth every aching minute of the last part of the ascent.
