    Yeah, that's my concern.

It's gravel, so it should spin either way. Sketches me out still.

You’ll be fine. Everyone freaks out about 4wd but the driveline isn’t made of twigs

There will be plenty of slip it won’t be an issue. I’ve done it on pavement plenty of times and never broken anything. Big heavy tires or wheel spin that suddenly stops are what breaks things

Heh, it's my first 4WD truck. I'd like to take care of that part.

MOAB gave me a ton of experience with it though. Ready for new challenges..

I see about 3 dozen videos on how to do it and they are on average 8 minutes long.

You don't have true locked diffs so the stress is on the brakes mostly. The computer tries to slow the outside tire which makes turning suck. It works harder with the brake applied at any point, so I'd use the engine brake as much as possible on descents.

Yeah, that's why I wanted to use 4Lo. Long descent. I didn't use 4WD at Hey Joe Canyon, but I was in 1st gear.

just a couple of things tbh
do remember people edit those videos to make them shorter lol. the issue with the 10th gen is how the cv is designed in the front to get the shock out you have push down on the control arm (since the front end is very stiff) and you risk tearing a boot or other damage. the other problem is then getting the strut back into the mount on the top according to a lot of people it never really wants to go back. the nice thing about having a shop do this is if they mess something up they replace it for me

Work truck gelled up, even with antigel additive. Should have added more. Balls, it's cold

It's definitely a little nippy. Took my subaru out and the inside of my windows were actually frosting/freezing

I was quite thankful for the overly effective heater in my jeep. Yet another way to make the machine uncomfortable, but it beats the alternative

Safe to say I'll be driving the tacoma from now on in these type of weather conditions. The subaru drives fine in the snow but with the inside of the windows frosting up like that it's way too sketchy to drive in this weather. Might be because of the stupid design of the doors

    Oof, that's a little annoying.
I was looking at a slightly modified Subaru Crosstrek for a pretty affordable price a little while back, but I'm quite set with my current plan. I was thinking this week that having awd would've been some nice piece of mind, but if the windows were doing that, I'd be pretty dang miffed, lol.

I used to keep a towel in my car back when my AC compressor was going out (if you ran any fans at all, the compressor kicked on and the sound freaked me out. I was a bit more paranoid back then) so I'd be wiping the inside of the windshield while going down the highway a lot on my way home from work in the winter, lol

Manual windows... what's a little manual defrost?

I had a few rags in my old F250 for that same reason. Couldn't roll the windows down on rainy/humid days. It had factory AC, but the compressor is still sitting on a shelf in my garage

lol, did you just slap a shorter belt on it?

My windows are getting pretty tough to crank if it's any colder than 50 degrees these days. I seriously can't wait for my little sister to get this car and bitch about its oldness. I'm really glad I started with something a little older but not on the level of my Dad's GM where the windows would fall down into the door, so he put wooden wedges in them and the AC would overheat the car... in Vegas. I think the daily things that were wrong with @Slashaar 's Pontiac were my limit. Holding the hazard button just a lil bit for the blinkers to work... broken power steering, etc.

You probably wouldn't have issues with a crosstrek. I have a bug eye impreza so there's no door framing around the windows

Sorry, should have been "rainy and humid". Windows cranked fine, just didn't want to get soaked. A/C never worked when I had it, so I yanked the compressor for more working room and that sweet ~10hp gain

Overall it was a great truck. Tacoma can't haul as much but is vastly superior due to having solid floors

Driver's side only had left foot ground access, and it was a bit too tall to touch pavement. Also a bit difficult to work a clutch that way...
