For living on a minor county road, the plow has been making a lot more passes today than usual. Makes me wonder what he's trying to avoid

I would have asked him how much he was going to pay me.

I always plan on the roads off of the highways to be shit.
State highways are hit or miss, but in the last five years or so
keeping the roads clear during winter has definitely gone downhill....

Haha. That occured to me after, but I was on the phone for work when he knocked.

Need to get one of those fancy doorbells so I can yell at people without getting out of my chair.

At least we're not in texas. Been asking around and talking to family -

    - mom has been out of power all day, its 46 in her house
    - a friend in dallas is running one of those jet heaters in his bedroom and the rest of the house is frozen
    - a friend in midland has been without power, water or cell for 3 days and has his family in a hotel.

    Its a mess.

That's pretty bad. I hope they get some relief soon.

Near as I can tell it won't get better till it thaws out. Equipment in Texas for generating power was not designed with this in mind

It was bad this morning, but I just went back out and the sun seems to be helping slush things out

    So. Many. Stickers.
Snow covered gravel is the best for driving. So soft

Which means they haven't seen you either...

o_O well then no wonder you haven't seen a plow if you never left your house... Lol

It has. Most DOTs are facing budget shortfalls and 15 to 30% deficit in personnel. every time you see some clown driving around with an expired temp tag, you can thank him.

Usually the blue springs plows come through, so I do see them. Even from my comfy chair.

Know I guy that worked at the county, handled parts requisition for the plows and snow trucks and such.
Clued me into what you're referencing and how it's directly affecting the performance of it.
