Any deer hunters here? How do you get in touch with land owners to get permission for hunting? This whole no public land thing is new to me.

Generally not that easy. We own a lot of land and people pay a good amount of money to hunt. If you don't know any land owners it might be kind of hard to get connected.

I wish I knew better, but my father is more involved in that than me. I think they pay about $20k a year for a group of 6-8. It may seem like a lot but it's thousands of acres of prime deer hunting ground.

Yeah I've been looking at land as of late and it goes for pretty crazy money.

Land is definitely not cheap. For pasture land it goes for $1500-$2000 an acre here.

Any Second Gen owners in KC area looking for a grillcraft or HID lights. I am trading in my truck and would swap out the grill and sell the lights and bracket for $150.

Would need a super white grill in good condition for swap. I also have an eclipse nav head unit with faceplate, UWS toolbox that fits underneath a cover and in between the wheel wells, great toolbox, could use another coat of rattle can.

Kansas doesn't have the public land that most of the more western states do but almost all Kansas counties have at least one federal, state, county or private public-access hunting area. Even when I was in Kansas City I could always find a deer (bow-hunting) or bird hunting spot within a 45-minute drive.

Just look for a lake and you will usually find a hunting area. Also, just about every county has at least one WHA, which is private land where the owner has granted public hunting access through a state program.

I know the feeling man. I had a great arrangement with a farmer out in Leavenworth county, gave him half the meat and he let me hunt his land. His kids took over the land when he got to old to do it any more and I went from unlimited access to getting a call about a month ago saying that they didn't want anyone hunting the land anymore. Other than that one place. Haven't been able to find anywhere out here. Kinda sucks but I'm on orders to tenessee, so hopefully they are more hunter friendly down there.

If you can't find a place to bow hunt within an hour's drive of Leavenworth then you aren't looking hard enough. If nothing else you can head out to Perry or Clinton Lakes. I hunted in both these areas quite a bit while in college at KU. There also are dozens of walk-in hunting areas in northeast Kansas.

That's good to know, but how do we find them? Are they specially marked?

Just look for the WIHA signs, visible from the road way...

Take the inner plastic skin off the tailgate and push it back out from the inside...

Watch a video or two of a professional pdr guy on YouTube . or take the inner skin off and head to a local dent guy and it'd prob cost like $50...
