I didn’t get a paint recall  but then I realized you’re truck is white (2 stage paint?) and they had those clear coat issues. Worth looking into. 2 birds one stone. :D

Yeah hopefully they honor it. Letter said they would have to check and make sure the paint isn’t not warping, bubbling or peeling

In case you don’t know, if you’re going to wait until August to get it fixed, I’d still have the insurance look at it now. Wouldn’t want to fight the insurance company as to why I waited 7 months to file a claim.

On another note, I just discovered these paint pens at Autozone! They make them in factory colors. I just picked up some in Super White the other day and they might be a good temp fix

I’ll wait to tell the insurance company because I don’t want it fixed now in case the same person decides to do the same thing after I fix it. Insurance company won’t know if it was keyed yesterday or the day I actually tell them it was done because either way it was vandalized. If I file for vandalism in august I’ll say it happened in August or will that not work?

Get pro-active. Take pictures of all the damage, the area, any surveillance cameras......

Fill a police report. Search the area where you park for video cameras. Try to find footage of the perp.

Then send a copy of the footage to the police with the police report.

Plan on a Small Claims Court against the perp.

Meanwhile, work with the insurance for repair.

I wouldn't expect the police to be very active on this. Car theft is becoming a misdemeanor in CA.

BTW, waiting until August will give rust a chance to establish a good foothold on the truck.

as the post above mentions, there will be signs this happened long ago, so I would file the claim now personally.

The street where I parked it on doesn’t have any cameras around. Police report might definitely need to be done for the insurance. I’ll call the station to today and see what they say. Damn I didn’t think about the rust.

Better to do it now, they can cut you a check ASAP and fix it whenever you want

edit: yes, get police report. Insurance will ask for it

same thing happened to me bro, my car got keyed all over parked outside of my moms place over night. next morning i made a police report. they came out and did their work, then insurance co. few weeks later hired a private investigator to come to my place and for me to give a recorded interview. he went out and checked for cameras, asked neighbors, etc. then they asked for phone records, cc and debit card records, etc. i gave them whatever they needed. then same PI did a second interview and basically insurance co. said you did it, we arent paying. i filed a claim with small claims court, showed up and had all paperwork needed and won the case. few days later i got a check in the mail.

I should have, but I am still with them (Wawanesa). It would cost too much to get out and find a new co. and start with them. family plan. much cheaper than others.

Damn I have wawanessa smh. I have 2 things going for me over my deductible. 1 I have a paint recall for my truck so let’s see that they say. 2 my uncle has a auto body and paint shop and might charge me under my deductible. Didn’t want to do it anytime soon in case that POS decides to do it again but now I’m up against rust. I live in a condo and my 2 car garage doesn’t fit my truck that’s why I park out in the street. My lease isn’t up till August so I’m gonna look around until that time.

If the trucks paid for, just file the claim get the check minus your deductible and put it in the bank, then fix it in the summer.
