I don't remember seeing this in here, but can you use the OEM roller switches with these heated inserts?

If you have factory heat you can utilize everything including the pads. If you are adding heat and want the factory style heater/rolling switches I suggest just ordering them off eBay. I myself only use Katzkins heaters as they are very efficient, last forever and if needed can warranty them out. They have a simple just high/off/low setting.

Looks great! I have a 2016 DCSB TRD sport in blazing blue pearl on order and want to get leather. I'm thinking black with perforated inserts and maybe suede wings and blue contrast stitching. Undecided on if I want the TRD logo embroidered, maybe do it in black for a subtle look on the black leather. I think I saw an example somewhere of suede wings but not sure cause I don't see that option on the katzkin website. Is it possible? Do you think my idea would look good? Would the blue stitching match? And lastly, how much would it cost? Thanks!

    Hi Lance
Check out HomerTacos DIY Thread right here in this forum. I've distributed over 400+ kits on this forum alone and I'd safely say 95% of these Members have installed their own including heated seats most of the time.

Do you have a picture of these installed? I'm thinking about doing something similar.

Yeah that looks sweet! Do you like the suede sides? I'm debating about doing the suede wings or not. Does the material seem like it will hold up?

I have 01 tacoma with buckets. If I'm only interested in replacing them, not the back seats. Can I do this if wanted? So could I get a price for both ways? Or is this a percent off offer?I mean on OP, pricing seems the same as katzkin page

My leather arrived today (the OR one) and it looks great! Won't be able to have it installed until mid-February, but I'll post pics when it's done. I Also wanted to note that the switches have an LED in them to let you know when they are on. Some pictures of the 2-way round switches that I found on the internet don't show one - maybe older models - so I thought I'd point it out.

So I checked out the wiring and instructions for the seat heaters, and the supplied harnesses are set up for a direct battery connection only - not for keyed accessory power. They each need 15 amps so an add-a-circut in the interior fuse box isn't going to cut it. So I'm thinking about adding a relay between the battery and the heater relays that is triggered by an ignition-on power source. I did the fog lights anytime mod that pulls ignition-on power from an unused contact where ironically one of the factory seat heater relays would go, and that got me thinking that perhaps I could use the factory wiring.

Anyway, before I try to reinvent the wheel I thought I'd ask John and the group if/how you can best make the heaters work only when the ignition is on. Thoughts?

Wire the switches to an ignition only power source. When the ignition turns on, then you can flip the switch for the heaters on and that will power a relay straight off the battery.

The switches already have a pigtail and plug soldered on. The whole harness is buttoned up with only power and ground available as connections. I wouldn't know which wire to the switch to divert to a keyed source, and I don’t know if doing that would affect the seat relay. I'll post the included wiring information later but it's not very detailed.

Here's the instructions. Ignore the page numbers, as I pulled out all of the multi-lingual stuff...'cause Merica!

The wiring diagram is near the back. Can anyone with more electronics skills tell me if the seat heater's relay will still work if I take the switch's input power from a keyed source instead of form the seat relay/Katzkin harness?

I took the harness over to my father's house this weekend and we set it up on a bench while he went through the wiring diagram - he's good with electronics. According to the diagram and our tests, the full power for the heaters goes through the switch, and you can't just redirect the switches incoming power source to a low-amp keyed source. You either need a 15 amp keyed source for each harness, or a relay.

John suggested I email Katzkins, but they told me to ask the retailer - so no joy there.

I have decided to just add a 35 amp relay under the hood that is triggered by the 7.5 amp accessory circuit in the under-dash fuse box using an add-a-circuit, and to leave the Katzkin harnesses unchanged. I ordered a weather proof fuel pump relay from Painless (via Amazon) for $60. Pricey, but comes with the weatherproof housing and is pre-wired for idiots like me.
