I just put my 10fters in the bed, no rack needed if you strap them down.

Question for you guys. I live in Santa Barbara, no waves, super easy water and low wind most of the time. I'm looking at a good intro kayak, preferably with a pedal controlled rudder to fight the wind easier when it does pick up.

Does anybody have suggestions on which kayaks to look at? Kayak is just for exercise on weekends. I live right by the ocean and would love to toss the kayak in and paddle around for a couple hours on saturday or sunday mornings.

Boonedox makes a sweet kayak holder.

But I have a long bed and put a 13 foot kayak in the back all the time. That’s a fair bit of overhang, but if you have a redundant tie down system in the bed you’ll be fine.

Just make sure it’s flagged in the tail end. Legally you have to have a bright bit of cloth on anything sticking out far past your tailgate. I bought a high vis construction vest and it works great. I also bought reflective duct tape and slapped it on the sides of the kayak near the rear so people could easily see it from the sides at night.
