That's pretty sweet. Great price IMO as well. Especially powder coated. If I wasn't so partial to my BesTop, I'd buy one

Can you make one that has mounting plates that sit on the bed rails? Also from the cab to the very back of a long bed. I need it to work with a roll up tonneau. I have no problem with drilling holes in my truck.

Can't do it. It has much higher weight capacity if it sits on top of the side rails.

    What's the weight on this?

Also, if I understand the length and pics correctly, a "long bed" rack would still fit on a short bed truck, but would extend closer to the tailgate. Would this be correct?

oh thats damn good idea right there for us SB guys, but judging by the pics looks like it would go just a little bit too far to fit

I think it will depend on how far forward the front mounting bars can slide. I'm sure he'll chime in with an answer.

Short bed shipping weight is 48 lbs, long bed is 55 lbs.

A long bed rack can't fit on a short bed truck because the attachment rail isn't long enough.

    I believe in communication.

In my opinion, there's nothing worse than a seller who doesn't respond to their customers. It's a total lack of respect for the people who FEED YOU.

My bad, I meant to say on top of the bed sides like in this pic.
.... but with a mounting plate that sits on top of the bed side (and not one that angles over to the inside bed tracks) that I can drill through. I have a tonneau cover that I wish to keep using. I would also like a rack that extends the full length of the bed.

Here is how I mounted my existing BackRack.

What if one took the mounting bed rails from a long bed and cut them down to fit the indide length of a short bed, then mounted the LB rack? :notsure:

    K. Thanks man!

I can always fab my own top rail (top side of bed) mounts, but let me know when you decide to make a longer rack that extends the full length of an LB bed.

... and keep up the good work. That is pretty slick!

There will be a version that sits 8" higher than the top of the bed rails in the very near future.

I really like this rack but have a couple of questions.

First, I have a 2016 Long Bed and I believe that the bed sits about an inch higher than the 2nd gen trucks. Would the rack be higher than the cab on the 3rd gen and do you have any pics on a 3rd gen truck?

The second question is regarding mounting a roof top tent. I have a CVT Mt. Shasta that is 56" wide. It appears that it wouldn't mount to the long bed rack as it would be a couple of inches shorter than the rack, but 10" longer than a short bed rack (which may also look funny on a long bed truck). I like the look of the pics above but it appears it is a 48" wide RTT on the 46" rack.

I believe that the Mt. Shasta is a standard size for many RTTs (CVT Mt. Shasta & Mt. Bachelor, Tepui Autana & Kukenam, and ARB Simpson II/III). Is there plans to make (or could you make) a long bed version that is 54" long to accommodate these RTTs?

It would still be just below cab height for you.

The rack has two bars on top that run front to back. That tent (or any tent) will bolt right up.
