Dang man thanks for the quick responses!

Really thinking about getting one of these. I've seen some guys put the long bed mid height on a short bed. Any advantage to that and is it an ok fit? I assume you just get a little more rack space.

I actually like to have a little space from the end of the rack to the end of the bed, but it works well either way.

So will you still be selling the Tacoma-specific long bed mid height bed rack for $600?

Yes sir. The Tacoma specific rack will stay priced as-is for the foreseeable future.

I read a post somewhere where someone was able to make the longbed rack work on a shortbed. Can anyone confirm this?

How does one order the tall to mid conversion kit? And, Does the conversion parts work with the older non laser cut tall model?
...40% mpg decrease with rtt is killing me.

I'm trying to decide what to put on my wish list between the mid-height rack and the crossbars. Your website says the mid-height rack sits 10" off the side rails, can you tell me how much height the tonneau brackets add to that? I'm leaning towards the mid height rack so I can mount up some rotopax etc but I'm hoping to keep the RTT (also on the wishlist) below the roofline.

The tonneau brackets add about 2"

Dang thanks for the quick reply. Gotta break out the tape measure, but I think it'll work out.

Just as an FYI, even the mid height rack without the tonneau brackets will put the top of the tent a bit above roofline. Only their tonneau comparable bed bars (what I have) will keep your tent right at roofline.

Dang, not really what I was hoping. Maybe it can stick a little bit above the roofline... :)

Any chance that one day this rack would be made so that the oem cover is still usable? I like the look of it

That would require a super high bracket, which isn't a great idea.

That is what I was afraid of. Would the one closest to the tailgate still work though? It looks like maybe the brackets are mounted where the middle and cover closest to cab are, is that correct?

I think the first fold is still under the rack, so probably not.

Access from the tailgate is easy though, you just have to plan for it. It's really not a big deal at all.

Just tried to install my new maxtrax brackets and found out their about an inch short! I failed to read the fine print on the kbvoodoo website that said the brackets don't fit old style racks. Will have to make side rail notches longer or drill new holes.
