Overall, I'm pretty happy with it and it really suites my needs of hauling bikes and kayaks well. It's very sturdy, and light enough I can take off/put on by myself. The powercoating has chipped in areas from loading/unloading kayaks on top, but not that big of a deal to me as I just touched it up. I actually planned on putting some adhesive back closed cell 1/8th inch foam on top of the racks anyway to pad out the bars and make a less slick surface for the kayaks.

It is the 21.5" height. You cannot fold the softopper with the rack in place. I'm not aware of any of these types of racks where you can, without removing cross bars at least. Not to difficult to remove the whole topper though if needed.

    Thx for the reply!
I decided to give the Datin fab rack a try mainly due to the looks of the 3rd bar on the side!
I’ll post some pics when I get it on and give my initial thoughts!

Looks sweet! I looked at a bunch, but didn't like the idea of the 3rd support for hauling whitewater kayaks either flat on the bars or with a stacker (It would probably work with J-cradles, but not for my purpose). Also, the max modular rack was actually in stock when I was looking, which was a big plus for me. Had it shipped within a few days.

Sorry for the delay, disnt see this post until now. It is the 21.5" height x 58" length.

The softopper will not fold with the rack in place. However, just removing the two cotter pins, the topper can be slid out the back to take it off. Only takes a few mins.

I'm very happy with rack overall. Some of the powder coating has worn off the top cross bars, but I'm constantly loading kayaks directly on the bars. I wish the top cross bars were a bit wider, but I can easily get 4 kayaks on top with a stacker. The side mount bike rack is awesome though. Doesnt eat space on the top.

I also want to run a piece of rubber across the entire top of the cross bar. There is a little lip where the corners attach that I want to even out and the powder coated bars are slick when trying to stack kayaks on top and peeling from constant contact. Those are pretty picky details though and the nature of all these modular racks. It's very sturdy and great for hauling bikes and kayaks. Looks good also.
