I could actually do that. But I would need to take it home for a few hours. Then I would need to do it again to fit the prototype.

Is there a reason why you'd use a button head fastener on the tailgate cap versus a countersunk fastener to make it flush and create a cleaner look? Should be an easy fix. $.02

i still think it would be easy to add on, and it would make your product that much better and an easier sell. it's the main reason why im not buying right now.

Ok just read the tread on this subject and yes I could do it with no problem but would like to have the countersunk hole powder coated as well which I cannot do. The process to include countersinking the fastener in your product might cost more but that process should be minimal if done correctly to minimize time and labor. If you use a drill stop that countersinks each hole, (one time set up should take less than 5 minutes) it would only take a minute to countersink 2 holes. Your product looks great and I know you've done a lot to make it that way but that extra step will make it better. History has proven that someone else will come along and improve someones idea and make it better. Good Job though. $.02

Looking forward to the long bed version. Didn't realize how flimsy that plastic was until I had a bike hanging off each side. Sharp looking products BTW

Have them and the tailgate cap on my '14 now and will have them for my '17 as soon as they are available. Fantastic upgrade if you actually use your truck as a truck! The steel caps also give you a place to hard mount "things" if you so desire. I had always planned to put together a rack to go over my hard mounted Softopper, but got lazy. Maybe this time around....

Another thing I noticed, aside from the complete lack of structural integrity that the factory caps have, is that they also get dirty really easy, and dirt like to get into pores and stay in there.

Yep, and UV is not kind to plastic. Protectant sprays help, but long term black plastic becomes grey and brittle guaranteed.

Also, i'm with NWTacomaGuy on the long bed waiting list.
