Nope. Third gen forum logic. The complaint is that dealers buy low and sell high - right? This consistently comes up - My Trade in Value Sucks because the Dealer Offered Me Wholesale for My Tacoma Therefore JD Power is a Fucking Lie.

Run with it brother. It's what the people want.

In an article I read, Toyota knows they’re behind on technology, but its because they focus on creating powertrains that last. Thats why their resale values are high, popularity and reliability.

Not sure about that. I read TW so I know these things to be true.

The Ranger and the Gladiator are going to outsell the Tacoma.

The 3.5 is a piece of shit.

My resale value sucks because I'm essentially using wholesale value as a comparison.

The articles and JD Power are wrong.

There resale value is a myth (until you price one used).

Reliability does play a part in Toyota's resale, but even if something is not that reliable, if everyone wants it the resale is high. Look at the current GT350, they are plagued with problems but still command high resale for used ones.

I for one, in August I totaled my 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport, paid $29K new and the gave me $22K....some nice deal.

    Or the Wrangler.............

This past August I sold my 2017 OR/AC for about 2K less than I purchased it. I sold it on Craig'sList however. A dealer offered me about 3K less....

Incorrect. My 3 year lease got totaled at 22 months. I came out on top with the overages paid out to me.

I have found there's no incentive to buy a CPO 3rd gen. In some cases dealers want damn near what they sold for new. One would have to have a severe case of Tacoma oneitus not to look at new ones with better rates and a more inclusive warranty.

    Nope. Can't be true.

For example, I lost only $2K on my one year old 2017 OR/AC when I sold it. But my real world experience counts for shit....as does yours...because....well, TW.

I don't know why the Tundra has such great resale value. I bought a 2010 used for $20k with 60k miles, traded it in 2 years later with 80k miles on it for $22k. I was shocked, but didn't ask too many questions.

The bullshit meter should be on high alert when someone claims what they got in trade, because with out seeing all the numbers, one doesn't know if that got rooted or not.
