Seems to have plenty of cash to trade in every 2 years for a new truck.

I have been pleased with the tailgate cap and the Basket style bed rack I purchased from him.
yes there is wear and tear.
I am currently on crutches after breaking my foot in 3 places.
The crutches fit inside the Basket rack perfectly...
He definitely specializes in lightlycoated light duty racks and not heavy duty.

Never heard a bad thing about the tailgate cap, lots of happy consumers on that one!

I always thought their racks looked like they were made from a flimsy ass erector set.

I personally find that to be a turn off and strong indication that you will have a unsupported rust pile much sooner than you think and "touch up paint" really? that is like saying "Hey we know our powder coat sucks" but here "have some plain ole paint to hide that for us will ya?" no that is just lame.

I had to Line-X my tailegate cap. it was not good on arrival, bubbling and rust at the edges. A little relatively light use with some rain and the whole thing was a mess. I had fallen for the the "old coater bad, new coater good" routine. I wrote him and, having read on here about his response, I just thought, "Lesson learned". I didn't want to jump through a lot of hoops and then still be in the same boat with a poorly coated product. I got it coated and no rust, no chips from usage. The cap is a good concept, poorly finished. I am glad I have it now but the total cap was more that I would have paid.

My rack was installed Feb 16th of this year. Today I noticed rust spots.. This rack has not yet had anything mounted to it, it has been through zero punishment as my build will not be complete until April 10th. Then let the games begin! I can not say I wasn't fore warned as I have read all the threads on VOODOO both good and bad. I know they have had rust issues in the past but have said on TW to all of us that this was no longer going to be an issue as they have switched powder coaters. Well this is not the case. I reached out to KB VooDoo, I sent them an email, Chad S responded with in minutes and requested pictures. I sent him 4 or 5 pictures and he responded back "Most likely rock chips have exposed a very tiny bit of bare steel. Use the included paint pen to touch those spots up. This is not a warranty situation. There is no fault in the powder coat, just simple wear and tear that should be touched up accordingly." One of the several pics I sent may be a rock chip, the rest definatly are not.

I am not impressed. I would not recommend this product. They do not have their powder coat issue any were near being resolved. They lied to us all when they said they did.

Excellent job?? Compared to who? My rack is less than a month and a half old and rusting in multiple spots. Brutal!

Maybe a poll should be started to see how many people that have purchased are having this problem.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned in this or other threads but why isn’t it an option to get their product bare so people can choose to go their own route if they want? No horse in this race it just seems like it’d solve a lot of hassle.

Most likely because @KB Voodoo is a marketing company and not a fabrication company. They probably buy their product from a company that also powdercoats it. They simply arrange shipping from the manufacturer to your house. That’s why you can’t find an address for KB Voodoo online and why they won’t let you stop by their shop.

This is just a guess on my part. Chad can clear up if anything I said is incorrect.

We don't post our address or allow customers to come by the shop for one specific reason: Our shop is in my home.

I pack and ship every single item personally. I design everything. I build my own websites. I do all the accounting. I do everything. We are not a marketing company.

We used to allow customers to come by, but some shady people came by and scared the shit out of my girl, so we don't allow it anymore.

Yes, we do farm out our powdercoating. An automated powder coat line is huge, and costs a cool million dollars (minimum). It's better to let the people who specialize in it do the job, and our vendor does a great job with it.

Read this thread, there are no real issues with this customers coating. He remains happy with his rack. We haven't had any issues with our new powder coat system.

He started this thread because he was pissed that we caught him trying to scam us out of a warranty replacement rack that he never bought in the first place, yet we still gave him a promo code just to be nice.

We don't offer bare products for these reasons:

    - Most of our customers don't want to bother coating their own racks.
    - We don't have the storage space to segregate between coated and uncoated parts.
    - Since we try to keep stock for all items, inventory sometimes sits on the shelf for a few months, and we would rather not have uncoated parts sitting on the shelf rusting.

Here's 12 TACO Max racks ready to go out in the morning, all packed today by yours truly.

With the current order backlog I'm working 7 days a week to catch up.

I don’t see any fabrication equipment there. Looks like a single car garage to me. So other than drop shipping from the real fabricator, I stand by my statement.

Yes, you are correct. We don't have or want any fabrication equipment. We work closely with two laser cutting and forming companies to get all that done.

That doesn't make us a "marketing company". We work hard, and we work all day. Technically I'm working right now when I'm supposed to be watching a movie.
