First let me start by saying that Chad's products are top notch. If you haven't considered looking at his products I strongly recommend you do. Thought I would do a quick write up on the Side Rail Cap installation in case there wasn't another one floating around that I missed.

The truck it will be installed on

    Removed my Yakima Bed Rack

Popped off the plastic bed rail protectors. Just start at the back and pull up. Broke a couple tabs but not really concerned since they won't be going back on. Luckily I didn't have any paint scrapes to worry about. Cleaned the top of the bed before installation.

Removed the 4 mounting bolts that hold the track in place

    IMG_0177_zpscwiy9f6v_c339459cce008914106803dd39af2dc084e552a7.jpg

Removed the 2 (10mm) bolts at the back of the bed

    IMG_0178_zpsayb0lrjk_b0d5ecbf414672b2708ff9edc116ff9be029fab6.jpg

Placed the (supplied) double sided tape in the middle of the bed rail

    IMG_0179_zps1he69az9_f2dc6312527cdc1cc19bc2db33cb94e2dee9178d.jpg

Placed the new cap on top of the rail making sure the mounting holes lined up

    IMG_0181_zpsfx4bapqs_8f92362a285ffb1ef2a8d3d949e47ef84329b51b.jpg

This is the important part. Make sure you push down on the back of the rack while tightening the 2 (10mm) bolts as it will make the rail flush with the bed

    IMG_0182_zpsvordya23_fb3ec8f295bd6e5f187eb4117bfd18f0b3664ec8.jpg

Remount the tracks and stand back and admire your work. Total install time was less than a hour and that was with me making some adjustments to my Yakima Rack.

I'm really thinking about a set of these now. Want to see some more pics with white trucks that have them installed.

You've got the best white truck on TW to look at, right up there ^^^^^

(and he has a sweet tailgate cap as well)

I like the idea of the tailgate cap, but the gap would drive me nuts. If that gap was gone I'd be all over it. I don't really put much in my truck I just hate the plastic crap all over.

I'm actually looking at your page right now and didn't realize how much stuff you made for our trucks. Love the cargo basket!

Gap is seriously a non-issue. I kind of thought the same thing until I got it installed on the truck. I literally only sticks out maybe a 1/4 inch on the side. Well worth the investment IMO as it makes the tailgate feel so much stronger.

You'd never even notice the gap in real life. Never heard one complaint from a customer. The straight cap across the back of the gate looks tits.

As KD and others have said, gap is only noticeable in pictures cuz you are looking for it. IMO, its probably the best thing you can do as the plastic, at least mine did, clips broke from closing within 6 months of ownership. The nice thing with these is you can actually put weight on them if you are hauling long items and you wont get that crushed tailgate look you see on a lot of contractors trucks.

I am however still torn on the side caps

I was too. In fact, I didn't even want to make them, but too many requests were coming in for them.

Once I had them on the truck, it was obvious that the plastic caps were never going back on. EVER.

Your right, its just like the debate over the gap on the tailgate! Once I have excess funds to spend, these are on the list

Saw one on eBay that didn't have the gap. Not sure if it is still available.

    That one isn't mine.

And the gap is such a non-issue. NOBODY who has one minds the gap, or even notices it.

The material that wraps around the back of the tailgate, in my mind, is essential.

I've sold more of these things than I can count, with 100% customer satisfaction.

Gap may be an issue to some and stopping them from buying it. (me for example) Love everything else, but that gap.

If you saw it in person, you'd be like, "what gap?".

I have seen one in person. And you are right pics make it look worse. It is something that would bother me however and it does stop me from buying unfortunately. I'm a picky person but I do want to strength my tail gate.

I fully understand why its there and the product is great. Not knocking it one bit other than I don't like the gap. I'd be happy if it didn't roll over or if the gap was gone, regardless of function because I know it's still a hell of a lot stronger than stock either way. The only thing heavy that sits on my tailgate is my buddy Andy.
