    The backing. Here are some photos that may help. Gen2 has a notched backing, and Gen1 is one flat piece. Sorry - it is kinda hard to see in the first photo but I am just slammed at the moment so I can't run out and snap another one. Maybe @Tsinajinii can snap a pic later today pf the ones he just picked up.

    Is it possible to detach the 2 lights from each other and run them sepersepar as fog lights? Or are they built as one unit ? Thank you

    Basically - no. You'd need an entirely different backing and power lead for each which wouldn't make since for you dollar wise. Plus, these things aren't SAE legal so they can't really be ran as fogs since they're bright as s*@t!
