A night shot of my amber G4 up against my garage. Looks like I need to adjust both inward some, especially the passenger side. Agreed?

I'm curious about the trucks running these in the colder regions. Do they ice up at all? LEDs don't run as hot as the halogens so being that I'm up in Canuck land it's kind of important. I would like to get a set of the Ambers if there is no icing issue. Thanks.

I had zero issues in the Pennsylvania winter this year, but there wasn't much precipitation.

I have the amber and one of those infrared thermometers. I can go turn it on for a while and measure the temperature if you'd like. (Provided Crash didn't already do that in his thread.)

Edit: That was pointless. They started at 71 degrees. They ended at 72 degrees after 10 minutes. Still haven't had any issues though.

You really can't aim the KC's left or right and the pattern you have is very normal. Remember, fog pattern lights are designed to illuminate a short distance out in front and a good distance out to the sides.

Thanks Ouch. I guess 71 is warm enough to melt snow. Was this measurement taken outside? The truck wasn’t warm already from sitting in the sun or inside a shop was it? Thanks for doing this BTW.

Hey guys just installed these in amber on a 2020 TRD off road and there's a good sized gap on each. Looks like the original housings are slanted and the kc's are not. I reached out to kc and they said the 2020 fog lights are different. Is this true? I thought 2016-2020 fog lights were unchanged.

Can you provide a picture? To my understanding the 2020 fogs are unchanged, they just discontinued the high output H11 TRD model fog and switched all trucks to the low output h16 model fog which has been offered since 2016.

Here you go. Not a huge deal but I really thought these were going to fit perfect since the fog light housings are all the same besides the pro trim to my knowledge

Now my truck is a 2015, but when I had them there was minor gapping, not to the same extent as yours. Does it feel like the fogs are interfering on anything on the mount to prevent them sitting closer? Edit, also funny question but are you sure you installed the fogs on the correct sides? The tab inserts have screw holes, I don’t recall if it was possible to install them backward.

I don't believe so. It seems they can only fit one way and that's by securing the two tabs into the tacoma plastic housing and putting the screw in on the other side which is what I did. I thought I had installed them on the wrong side as well but I tried switching them and there was still a gap. It seems to me that unless there is a bracket or something, there is no way a flat fog light will fit in an angled housing. It just seems like nobody else in this thread mentioned anything so I felt I was doing something wrong. And then the lady from KC tells me this.

Well it cannot sit flush because then it cannot be adjusted for aiming, so there needs to be some gap. I haven’t pulled apart a 2020, but I’d be surprised if Toyota changed the fog mount from 2019 when little else on the front changed. They did change the fog offering though so it is a possibility. It would be interesting to see if the H16 OEM fog part number is a carry over from the 2019 year, or if it is a new unique fog part number indicating the possibility the mount changed.

I think I have the same grill. How much light does it block from your pods behind there and what mounting hardware did you use? Looks awesome.20200615_190204.jpg

Looks like you have the wide/narrow slit style mesh? I think that blocks like 60%, at one point I found a website that listed the mesh ratios. I had mine custom done with an extra fine/small mesh to reduce how much light was blocked. It's still noticeable, which is why I've rebuilt it with a 100w bulb and heavier wiring.

Does anyone know where I can get a set of the Ambers in stock right now? Been looking with no luck. I have even called into different stores who said online they were in stock, but were not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Might have to 'borrow' the set out of the wifes 4runner till I can can locate some.

...that's what I thought I saw. Why on Gods green earth would you do that KC??? That 'amber' was the best temp I had found yet for a fog. I guess the next closest fogs would maybe be the morimotos? Any other recommendations for a fog that's under the 3000k mark? Closer to 2-2500

Amber isn’t as performant as selective yellow would be my guess. It isn’t competitive. Morimoto is the only other one that has amber fogs, not sure on their present availability, but they were not nearly as nice as KC. You can check the comparison in the SAE thread. There are still some universal ambers on eBay, but I didn’t see any Toyota specific ones.

Have you looked at the Diode Dynamics SS3's in selective yellow? A long time ago I had the Morimotos, then went to the KC's, then the DD's. I have never looked back.
