Long story short, to those like me who tuned their trucks with KD Max which was acquired by Yotawerx who is not honoring the "lifetime guarantee" to adjust the tune at any time at no cost, I recommend speaking with your local Overland Tailor Tuning (OTT) rep.

You can share your experience here:
    KDMax-Pro Tuning--NOW YotaWerx Tuning | Tacoma World

Seems you're not the only one to get the shaft over this buyout, but sounds like you've already made the swap to OTT, so not sure you care to spend the energy pleading your case in the main KD/YW thread. Hate to hear it man, but many feel your same pains.

Thanks for sharing that link. I'm definitely not alone and despite not posting much, I'm here often researching/reading which is very helpful/valuable. It is a pretty cool place with a lot of great info.

$500 for the KD Max tune...all I wanted was the throttle response adjusted...I came to this site to refresh myself on the process which is where I learned of the buyout/acquisition. I spoke with the local Yotawerx rep, who was helpful but powerless to honor the "lifetime guarantee," so he gave me the Yotawerx owner's contact info. I spoke with him. Nope. So I went to a competitor, OTT, who offered their entire tune for a lot less than the company that should have honored the "lifetime guarantee" to existing customers. Not a good way to do business in my opinion. I am very happy with the OTT tune and recommend it to anyone looking to change from KD Max/Yotawerx.

I think alot of people share your thoughts on this whole ordeal. But exactly why its important to share experiences in the threads so others won't fall victim to the tuning schemes that have been happening for many many years. I will say, there are some good dudes in every tuning group, and some really go over the top. But it unfortunately gets overshadowed when their hands become tied in situations like this. It took multiple years of me trying to coordinate with my local tuner and getting ghosted before another tuner in a neighboring state in the same network made a trip to help me out. That individual in the KD group really went over the top. Now that the buyout has happened, I really don't see any updates from the group on here anymore. They used to post every 2-3 days sharing pics of trucks they tuned. Idk if their business has now gone dry or if everyone has actually made the switch to OTT. I think more people have just grown to accept theres no tuning out some of the 3rd gen AT quirks, and while some tunes make it a little less noticeable, it still kinda sucks no matter what you tell it to do lol.

Make the switch to OTT like everyone else. All my customers receive tune updates or adjustments for free. I don't care what the reason is, or how many times you need an adjustment, just message me. The same can be said for anyone on the OTT team. No games, no constant excuses, no fools gold updates with ridiculous update fees. And most importantly honest and unmanipulated performance results.

Dave was a cool guy. Always offered to tweak my tune if I wanted. I went over to OTT this summer solely for the CARB sticker. The tune is very similar to KDMAX and it’s 100% better than stock rubbish. Best mod you can do!

There definitely was a 1 week-ish ban on most of them for not providing mods something they had requested in a timely manner, and many threads have been locked/shut down from the different groups bickering in each others' threads, but from what I understand, the main KD Max thread (now Yotawerx) is still active; but no one posts in it anymore. My interpretation from the events that followed the announcement was YW pretty much told everyone they had no intent to be active around here and to email all communications or F off (again, this is my paraphrasing and interpretation). I expected the thread would still remain pretty active, at least people raving about KD Max/new YW tunes, as thats all it was before, and people couldn't wait to tell the world about how it saved their truck.

I think in the end, the pyramid scheme of "verified network of tuners" found their end, and the people towards the top got their payout, while the people towards the bottom seemed to have magically disappeared and don't ever post here now. I assume they weren't allowed to integrate into the "new" network and can't talk about it.

That stinks to hear because I’ve been running the KDmax tune for several years and was going to look into the yotawerx tune shortly because I’m due for an update. Not sure I will if I have to pay full price all over again.

I bought the OTT DIY tuning kit with interface hardware and software.
The express reason for doing so was avoiding any dependency upon a local tuner.

I have flashed my 2023 three times now as I experiment to find which of the five tunes I prefer.
This would be a giant PITA if I had to schedule this through a 3rd party tuner.

If you go the DIY route, understand it is MANDATORY that your computer be at Windows 10 or higher.
The software will install on older versions because the installer does not check the version at installation time.
Neither does the app check for Win10 or higher.
The documentation only specifies "windows laptop" so I used my Win 8.1 Pro laptop, and it crapped all over itself.

I am 100% delighted with the OTT tune on my stock 2023.
The $790 price tag is pricey, but I am satisfied with having total control over my tune.
