What are the differences in power delivery between the two?

The KDMax is the update to the K&D Custom tune. The shifting is smoother. The throttle has a natural linear feel with less "jerky" feeling.
The air/fuel delivery is improved. The shifting was adjusted.
It is just an improved/better tune.
Both are a major improvement over stock. Both have a power increase.
The Dyno charts are listed in the thread in previous posts.
It is worth the small cost to upgrade.
But to answer your question, the overall total HP gains are minimal.
In my opinion, we are at (or close to) the maximum power that this truck can produce.

I have a question tho, and it may be the wrong thread to ask this.
If the base engine of the Ford F-150 is 3.3-liter V6 engine has 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, how can we unlock that amount of power on a 3.5Lt on the taco?

how are they pushing out that much more power out of a smaller engine than ours?

Different injectors? Lexus ES350 is about the same engine as the Tacoma but with much better injectors... just a thought though as I’m far from a mechanic

You can get more with F/I--Supercharger or Turbos.
Also, you may be able to get more on N/A with more aggressive tuning, I kept the tune "safe for public", I don't want to sell a tune that pushes it too far!

Im out here in PA with my 2016 Tacoma LTD, wanted to know if you have any places out east here to get this tune done? I am looking at having the OV tune done but would consider the KDMax if it were somewhat local.

For those getting the new KDMAX tune will we be receiving the latest version (6.0?) with a choice of 'tip in' options?

why is there a loss of power from 3-3.5k? Torque drops for over 1000 rpm as well? I am presuming bold line is the KDMAX tune? Not trying to be a jerk just asking as a possible customer.

This was on Quoc's truck with 4.88 gears and mud terrain tires. We are going to repeat it with a stock truck like before.

The ACIS valve opens at 3200 rpm and causes a dip, then an increase in power. In the stock tune, this ACIS is at 3650 rpm. Having it open lower allows the manifold to get more air earlier than the stock tune.

Here is some basic info on ACIS valve.
ACIS, is an implementation of a variable-length intake manifold system designed by Toyota.
Simply put, the ACIS system uses a single intake air control valve located in the intake to vary the length of the intake tract in order to optimize power and torque, as well as provide better fuel efficiency and reduce intake "roar".

Not sure about the low end torque numbers, we are going to repeat that with a stock truck and with proper GearLocking to get comparisons.

I appreciate the response and information. Look forward to stock truck comparison. On the Honda engines we see something similar in the VTEC switch point and if it’s too low or too high you get a dip just like this. Interesting and thank you again for the response.
