KDMAX 6.0/OVTune April 4-17-2021 K&D Tuning

Was the fuel cut/fuel limiter changed? I think I hit it and it's lower than what it was.

 

It is set at 7250.
But a lot of the time the truck will shift before you get to the limiter. Depends on the gear.

 

My misunderstanding. Top speed cutoff. I hit it for the first time and the speed was much lower that what it was before.

 

Depends on gears. But it is set higher than stock/OVtune 2.0 on the KDMax tune to get you higher than before.
It is set at 350 Kph. Stock is 173 kph.
If you are getting limited lower than before the tune, you need to be re-flashed. No way it should be lower.

 

Roger that. It may have been something else, but it felt like fuel cut. I'll see if I can duplicate it late one night.

 

I meet with EDGE48 last Saturday to have the K&D Tune installed. First test drive....WOW! what a difference! I wanted to give it a few days before making a report. Shifting (auto trans) was so much smoother, throttle control....barely touch and she's off! Coming home on the I-17 (no traffic) punched it & quickly hit 110mph @ 4000 RPM, but let off (can't afford a ticket) but still have a lot more to go
Now I will try & drive nice to check fuel mileage on the next tank, but so far looks to be good. Thanks so much Eddie (EDGE48)

 

Well, looks like I need a re-flash. It is lower.

I would do a test drive with him after the flash to make sure.

 

Just an update. This was for a full tank of 87. This is by far the best gas mileage I have gotten since putting on 33’s and having 4.88 gears. I was shocked I almost got 400 miles.

 

If anyone is able to do this in AZ (pref with experience), and thinks it is worth it to do to a brand new 2021 TRD off road V6 AT, I might be interested

I'm chiming into to vouch for the KdMax, I got the tune two days ago and put a few hundred miles, its very punchy off the line on the lowest throttle setting, gets a little better milage, holds a gear, total win. I gotta say wtf Toyota, this truck was a lemon before this tune, I live in the mountains and it was probably blowing out the solenoid when it was shifting between third and fourth gear every three seconds when going up hill, what a total engineering failure and nerve-racking to ride in to say the least.

 

Looking to get this done. Live in Scottsdale. 21 TRD Off-Road 4X4 bone stock. Any help?!

This tune has been great as I reported earlier however cruise control still shifts like a maniac and doesn’t really work, I let my girl friend drive it on the interstate and on gently rolling uphills with cruise set near the speed limit at about 78 mph it would do 5th then try to hit 6th but then instantly give up on 6th and drop to redline at almost 6000 rpm down into fourth and just don this in a 5-6 second cycle, almost eighty miles an hour screaming in 4th gear, saving for a nice v8 gmc at this point. What a joke, not to mention the gas mileage being about the same as my 90’ big block Yukon that purred at low rpms at those speeds .

 

That's amazing mpg. I've been seeing pretty poor mpg with a recent flash of Kdmax 6 both on stock wheels and 33's. I'm lucky to get 13.5 combined. Wish that could be improved. My tune guy said that there were some reported issues with newer trucks. I know that generally moving up in tire size can diminish fuel economy but I was not expecting dropping down so much. Makes me think I might have to roll it back.

 

What year truck? Are you using adaptive cruise control?

 

I contacted my tuner and he told me how to override the adaptive cruise control so hopefully this will be the complete fix , truck really feels better aside from the cruise control

 

Did the KD tune fix the rev hang?

 

No tune can completely “fix” the rev hang—yet. But it is improved/lessened.
