Nothing will change for the individual licenses. They're not going to take away your privileges so I wouldn't worry.

Welcome the newest members in San Diego who converted from the other tune to OTT7.

These customers mentioned they didn’t mind the KDMax tune and had no issues with it but wanted to try something different. After tuning their trucks to OTT and letting them do test drives, we asked the customers if any of them wanted to switch back to their previous calibrations, all of them elected to stay with the Overland.

It's not about KDMax vs. OTT, it's about what feels right for the customer. Both have their pros, I'm sure both have their cons, but what works for your truck is the tune you should pick.

Well on another note I uploaded ott spicy file tonight for my trip Thursday . See how it likes going over the cascades . I'll stop at the scales with my gear loaded see what my added weight is . Still gotta pick up a buddy and load his gear to.

Dont forget when you load Med-Spicy ECT… that means when you hit ECT you get the spicy throttle. I’m sure you already knew that.

I'm pulling a little over 3 K fully loaded so this gives me optimism that performance of the truck will be better under these conditions. Unfortunately local tuner booked way out.

I just got home today from my trip and I was totally impressed with Ott 7.0 tune I was going up white pass on the cascades with no issues what so ever. This tune definitely gives the Tacoma every bit of confidence its always needed . Even with my big tires and stock gears and the weight of all our gear it was going up mountain passes with a breeze . I too have been tune hunting for the past 2 yrs trying them all or just about all of them and I finally found my unicorn . Thank you OTT you made this tune meet and exceeded my needs in my Tacoma . My recent trip was my final test for your tune . OTT you pass with flying colors . If I could shake your hand I would . Very well done . I feel as words can't thank you enough .

Ah, yeah but that dude runs a full tuning shop. Very smart guy and knows what he's doing. If it was easy for me to fly there and help you out I would. Be patient you're in great hands sir.

Yes and no on the lower temps.
Yes: the reduced shifting will keep the temps from going higher.
No: the running temp of the TC1 and TC2 will be the same as before retuning. For me running at 65 towing approx 3000# in 4th trailer pan temps hold steady at 192-195. Not towing running at 70-75 temps right at 192.

p.s. I do have a tranny fluid cooler, but its main help is when climbing hills, especially when towing, it helps to keep the pan temps down.

p.p.s. the above was same for both KDMax 6.0 and OTT tunes. However, if trying to tow in 5th, prior to tune, there would be a lot of lock/unlocking going on and that would drive TC temp up.

Just some stats in SoCal... last month about 12 customers of mine wanted to give the Overland Tune a try from their previous offering (that tune name shall remain nameless). None of those customers went back to what they had been tuned with previously. I posted a few of their reviews here, but those of you who are on the fence or near someone that offers KDMax and OTT side by side (or any other tune for that matter), to give them both a try and leave an honest review here. Let the tunes do the talking.

This list of tuners that offer BOTH the OTT7 by @JustDSM / @Boltripper and KDMax by @PapaRee/@TWTaco
    Norcal - @InternationalHarvester
    Arizona - @AZC Edge
    Colorado - @MGMSangTaco
    Florida - @HCFR TACO22
    Kentucky - @NickJacq23
    New Jersey - @xXgOdLyXjEwXx
    North Carolina - @Mshort03

The two newest KDMax / OTT Tuners are
    Texas - @KalebG98 @A_Tacoma01

It's really great to see some tuners able to offer multiple products to their customers. I can understand how having multiple products for these guys is tough but these guys are all true professionals. Advertising both products in a head to head race is difficult and customers have so many questions to ask.

I had been running KDMax Pro for a few months but recently had the opportunity to switch over and give OTT a try. I was not unhappy with KDMax at all, it is a very aggressive, fun, and yet well balanced tune that did great on the highway, smoothing out some unresponsive throttle areas at high speed and definitely accessing higher gears and holding them better. I thought it might be a little too aggressive for me at times though. It required a fair amount of throttle just to get a slow rolling start going and even though it was great at high speeds, it would still drop down into 4th at times that seemed unnecessary.

The first thing I noticed with the change to OTT is the smoothness of the gear changes. I can barely detect the shifting at times it is so clean. I can start a slow roll in first with very little throttle and yet it still maintains the feeling of low end torque/power that I wanted to feel. It seems to hold higher gears much longer and more appropriately than I have seen with other tunes which is so much nicer for highway driving.

I held off writing a review as I really wanted to test it out on a recent road trip. About 1000 miles on the highway round-trip, going from sea-level to around 9000 feet, and at least 100 miles on dirt roads and some moderately technical trails at the destination. OTT did absolutely great. Super smooth through gear changes and yet absolutely maintained the power I was expecting to feel on the low end. This balance is especially important to me for technical situations where I need a lot of torque to climb a single wheel up and over a rock but I'm going uphill at the same time. I need the power to not roll backwards and to get up and over the obstacle but I also don't want to lurch forward. OTT did especially great, I felt like I had full control. The smoothness of throttle response was maintained without losing the feeling of power.

I thought I lost some MPGs with the KDMax tune, this may or may not be true, it's very difficult to replicate any one situation and compare it to another. On one long trip with KDMax I hit around 16mpg (averaging around 65 mph, moderate highway hills, etc). On this last trip with OTT, I hit around 16 as well, but was averaging 72mph and it was super windy the whole way, so maybe a bit better. Hard to compare and truthfully not really fair to do so. Both measured using GPS tracking distance.

Overall, I'm very happy with the OTT. It fits my needs very well and if there is one word to describe it, it is "balanced". It seems to maintain the right amount of low-end power and yet provides a very smooth highway ride. Consistent linear throttle throughout the entire acceleration from stop to highway speed. Like I mentioned before, I was not unhappy with KDMax Pro at all, I just find the OTT is a better fit for my setup and my driving style. The KDMax Pro is very aggressive (in a good way) but that is not what I prefer.

My views are very similar kdmax pro+ definitely is a great tune but still quite wasnt quenching my thirst . I've tried many of tunes and was searching for that unicorn. OTT 7.0 definitely quenched my thirst. I recently went on a shed hunting trip far over my cascade mountains in eastern Washington and Ott was tried and true. It gave me everything I have been looking for and more. I'm running 315/75/16 and stock gearing with the weight of 5400lbs empty and we'll over 6000lbs loaded with gear. OTT really shined bright with being loaded with gear. I have the medium with spicy ect. When using ect it was my favorite as it performed great pulling up the pass on the mountains . I was weary about ott when I was loaded down with gear. OTT proved me wrong and showed me the strength these 3.5l have in our tacomas. Especially my large tire size and stock gears. Now I have highly modified exhaust , aftermarket coils, afe throttle body spacer, k&n performance intake, and run premium fuel at all times . Kdmax I feel is for almost stock or slightly modified Tacoma's . I'm excited for the future of Ott as vf tuner released 1.6 recently and more opportunities for tuners to have more access to the Tacoma's. I'm still waiting to give my long review of Ott cause time will only tell. I know so far I've logged over 1000 miles also and so far everything has been super positive.
