Right on! Thanks for allowing me to upgrade and update your truck. Glad you were able to give a good honest side by side comparison to the tunes. Let's Geaux

So I have the Aggressive tip in on the KDMAX Pro. and like the aggressive feel. would one recommend the Mild/Med or the Med/Spicy OTT? I'm really leaning towards the Med/Spicy

Med/spicy. And if you want more there is ++Spicy as an option for ETC as well. Be ready, ++Spicy is HOT.

I don't really experience with KD Max pro but I got OTT tune and I'm totally love it. Justin set me with aggressive throttle response and love it. Just still can't believe it how huge big performance difrent with stock one, Justin just unlock the beast with his tuning I'm so enjoying drive my truck.

Interesting. OV2.0 has the least amount of optimization to shift maps and other key features people look for in a tune currently. It was dropped 2 years ago before many adjustments commonly made in current tunes were even accessible in the software. In many ways it is completely obsolete. What do you like best about it?

Lmao funny well we do certainly all have different driving habits. Sorry all the current tunes out didn't give you satisfaction. Didn't think ov 2.0 was satisfying anymore since so much development in the tuning world has change . Funny

Orange Virus tuning has definitely improved their vFTuner software. With more tunable maps etc which have allowed the tuners like @Boltripper and @JustDSM to advance the Overland Torque Tune to what it is today with version 7.0. I'll admit, I wasn't happy with my fuel economy on older versions of OTT (4.0) because some some things weren't just there yet with the vFTuner.

Now on the topic of better software in vFTuner, I'm just surprised they haven't taken time to advance their own tune OVTune 2.0 with each version of their software. Would be really great to advance the tune and software at the same time but the limited resources of Orange Virus I could see why the tune would fall to the back burner.

A lot of times you need to give away the razors to sell the razorblades.

Because it would be a significant amount of work to send out TP's to everyone who purchased one (or more) after every new update to the program. If a new map is added to the software, it's added to a definition file so vF tuner can identify it for us. It's not like the map is being added to the tune after the fact.

Not disagreeing with you. I would honestly rather have better software so the people making tunes can improve tunes and the people making software can improve software.

Mass disturbing tune packs isn’t difficult. Mailing list with a MEGA link.

I agree that I'd rather have the map availability as well.

And sure, you can create a mass email, but you also have to sort out who is going to get what. Then you will have people who no longer have vF potentially in that chain. Then you will have those who may potentially have OOD TP's and may complain that the version they received didn't flash because it was a newer version.

I like 2.0, it's a good base to build a tune from, and I like the OL efficiency it comes with.

Right… I think most of us have moved past OV anyway.

Mat is super busy building the software to tune Kia’s and Hyundais too, so really OVTune is done.

I just got my truck tuned with @trdquoc in OC. OTT V7 with the lvl 3 flavor of spice for manual trans. I wanted to get the feel of it on a totally stock build for better understanding of the changes/differences. This is my first tune on the taco, and this is my initial impression:

I first tried the highest tune lvl 4 / spicy and it was a total torque monster. The throttle response in of itself is a massive, not nice, but massive improvement.
After a few min of testing we tried the lvl 3 which Quoc initially reccommended, and i agreed that it was still very peppy, while not being too touchy/unpredictable for stop-n-go LA traffic. If my daily driving was not comitted to an hours worth of traffic, i would have likely gone with the lvl4 and just sent it. Stuck with the lvl3 tune.

I had a 70min drive home on the new tune. Everything about the throttle feels better. At high/fwy speeds i can hold speed and accel in 6th whereas i previously got no response and had do downshift to 5 or 4.
Upshifting is sharper, rev-matching is much much faster. I can shift like a car, and not have to pedal dump n dance like a tractor.
My leisurely trip there got me roughly 15mpg, normal driving.
I got home after 65 miles and got about 16mpg, that was intentionally running thru gears and playing the 3-5k range most of the way.
I'm expecting 18+ on my drive to SD tonight.

For sake of simplification, as i am just a customer, not a tuner.
The tune is very similar doing a 1/4 turn or short throw throttle on a sportbike. The majority of your modulation is brought higher to the "top" of the throttle or pedal. As a result it "feels" like you have more available power, and WOT much sooner.

I have no complaints. This is my nitpick:
With tune, the last/bottom 30% of the pedal feels "normal" and dead in comparison to how much power is available in the first/top 50% of pedal action.
Imagine youre an idiot trying to initiate drift in an LS platform car, you kick it and modulate throttle in the maybe 35-75% range
Imagine youre an even bigger idiot doing the same thing in a tuned taco, feels like modulation is all in the 10-55% range.
I find myself never getting beyond 1/2 throttle pedal now.
I hope this wild analogy made sense.

I hope this anecdotal review was helpful to someone considering it.

Phat thanks to @trdquoc who is a super cool dude and an amazing wealth of technical knowledge about dino-burning.
If you are in the LA/OC area Quoc is your gai!
