Well, they would be. If you take the tunes to a tuner who is not in that network, I wouldn't expect a free flash.

Not to mention the need to unlock the VIN. Typically, people buying the tune files have VFTuner to flash their own truck

I wouldn't either, I agree; someone providing a service deserves payment for their service. Which led to my question being is "free" actually "free" for those return customers. You answered that though, so thank you! I've been unsure how the current tuning process works, and if its different per tuning network. I understand the need charging for VIN unlock, tune files, and performing the tune for a brand new customer.

I was running KD Max tune for probably the past 10 months? To be fair, I never got my tune updated to the newer versions so it was on older version.
I recently got OTT (Medium/Spicy) and it is a huge improvement over the version of KD Max that i did have.

Without getting into crazy specifics, OTT has much cleaner shifts, holds gears much longer, doesn't downshift as much.

I have a question....just wondering, does anyone have any idea of the percentage of Taco owners that get their trucks tuned?

That's hard to gauge...first, you have to get people to freely admit to having it done.

Second, you'd have to ask the Tuners if they'd provide a number of customers...which is probably, not likely.

    Why do you ask?

Will it impact your decision to get a tune?

92 I believe for all runs. Dyno done in Alabama. @JustDSM or @Boltripper can provide more details if you need it. They have temp, elevation, etc… the run is shown SAE so corrected for those factors.

Thanks Paul! Went over the pass this weekend and it was a whole different experience , just held 4th all the way up snoqualmie not dropping back and forth between 3/4 which it usually does

the shifts are super smooth, overall it’s just much better

It’s probably a lot lower than you think. 250,000 sold per year on average give or take including 4 cylinders.

2% is a high estimate in my books

Hey Gents, Considering the OTT as I am running KDMAX now. From my reading so far it seams like a great tune. I have spent a year with KDMAX and while its a huge improvement over the stock there a couple of annoyances still that could use some improvement. The biggest issue I have currently is the acceleration from a stop, it breaks necks no matter how light I am on the pedal.

Anyhow one thing I have not been able to find in regards to the OTT in this thread is if we can still remain on 87 octain. I see that Dyno was done with 92 but for obvious reasons Id like to be able to run 87 daily.

I believe my tuner is supposed to be coming to visit in the next few weeks so hopefully we can get to meet up and run this tune out for a another year.

OTT you can run 87. New version is Octane Leaening. You won’t be disappointed!
