I’ve had the OTT tune for a little bit now driving it everyday, it feels great…when it feels great…if that makes any sense at all. I feel like it drives different at times. Sometimes it feels like it should with the tq down low then other times it just feels flat and I really have to rev it before a shift. I’m on the first throttle setting but that should only affect sensitivity not power output.

I’ve had the 7.0 for a couple weeks now and very happy with it. What’s the differences between the 7 and 8?

Did the tuner in Grand rapids say which tune he would do? I'm looking at OTT myself but I couldn't find any tuners anywhere around me. (Mid Michigan). Thanks.

It’s got a refined throttle mapping that has less bark off the get go while retaining response in the meat of the pedal, further improved low end & midrange, revised fueling strategy that should improve economy over 7.0 (about 95+% report improvement).

I prefer the “snappy” throttle, but the better low end and midrange sound really good. I currently have the “extra sauce” throttle, can I retain that setting on the new tune? If not, sounds like a small sacrifice for more gains.
    Thanks!

    Certain not typical.

If I'm understanding correctly, you've flashed yourself and did not go through a 3rd party tuner correct? Either way I'd love to chat more with you about the issue you're experiencing. I have a theory, but I'd like to validate that with data before drawing conclusions. Are you familiar with TechStream?

I'll have John email you a new set of files. New stuff as is, and another with the original throttle settings.

That's what I felt was the big differrence. I had to train my foot not to forcefully apply throttle.

Not sure if it was the light-weight shoes I was wearing but I felt a vibration on the throttle but then it goes away after going through the early gears. Maybe it's just me...has anyone reported that to you?

I have noticed improved MPGs but I will have to get specifics to validate my claim.

Out of curiosity, What's to prevent Tuner B from reverse engineering/stealing Tuner A's tune files?

the Pro version of vF locks the tunes so you can flash but not edit nor view.

More OTT feedback with positive mpg gains (although it mistakenly says mph):

You would think the OEM files are Proprietary...hence the updates from A or B would either:

    Overwrite
    Re-direct

the sequence of directions taken from the ECU/brain of the system.

I would also imagine there is encryption associated with files from tuner A & B.

    But this is just speculation...

Drove my Taco in "S" today for the first time since I got it about 7 weeks ago. It drove pretty much like a normal truck, left the ECT off.

Ok so I have tried OTT 8.0 Kdmax pro+XT and now the newest OTT. IMO Kdmax for the win. Just way smoother, easier to hold speed with lite throttle, lite throttle is butter smooth. Holds gears going uphill instead of up shifts then back down. I was sent the new nexus black something tune and I really don’t even want to try it. I have my tune. JMO and works for my truck and my driving style. Truck is stock height, stock 16 tires no added weight really. Just works.

Does the OTT drive in OD gears in the city?

I don’t drive city too much. It’s hard for me to explain but the OTT tune just didn’t feel right to me? Seems like I was in the throttle too much to hold speed? I am not saying it isn’t good just not good for me and how I drive is the best way to put it. I have the vf tuner so I can flash myself so being able to try different tunes and different throttle setting is the key. To say there is one be all end all tune just isn’t correct and I won’t say that. It’s just what works for me. Sorry if it’s to vague.
