I'm going on a month+ on my OTT...initial version load 7.0 then 2 weeks later the 8.0 update.

My driving consists of M-F (4 miles each way to work) and jaunts to the grocery store, fuel-ups, taking our Cats to the Vets, and one long trip to the Delaware beaches after tracking to near Wilmington, DE to meet with our regional tuner.

Med/Mild is what I have and I'm thinking of knocking it down a tad to validate acceleration response/differences. I'm noticing lots of RPM changes during braking downshift...which obviously helps with wear/tear on the brakes.

Very appreciative of the feedback on both tunes...thanks fellas!

I am thankful all the owners I provided KDMAX Pro to stuck with the rev cycle. It's been really rewarding to first provide a tune that they provide quotes like "its a brand new truck" and "that's how is should be from the factory" after they break it in, to now upgrades saying they where "impressed the XT somehow made it even better". With the right KDMAX Pro resource working with you to get the right throttle setup it all coming together! Even the eager DIYers who have their own tune kits and our tune pack to invest in are trying the options on their own time and are promoting the same! Thanks @shotgunbilly420

Thank you for doing all you do with the tunes and customer service. It also helps that were only 5 minutes down the road. Still loving the tune, been through a few, every update and the XT is very impressive. I have about 150 miles on it and its more powerful, responsive and just more refined in all aspects, shifting, throttle, down shifting, holding gears and no gear hunting. Now gotta get the Wife's 4Runner update and my Son's Tacoma.

Probably a tall ask, but does anyone have experience with the OTT and YotaWerks/Nexus Blackhawk? Or even KDmax vs Blackhawk? I've been thinking about a tune, and these are the two that seem to be available in my area.

Lol unfortunately you're severely uninformed if you have been unaware of how large and popular other competitors within the community are.

Who’s competing for what? I think our end goal is all the same, a truck that drives how we want it :)

Yes, that's certainly the very pretty and flowery answer that most of the public would like to see posted, but you represent a tune company, which means others not in your respective network are business competitors.

As I haven't had any tune, I don't have many specific questions I guess. More just trying to get a big picture view of each. I'm just looking for the best "regular truck" daily driver type tune. Good drivability around town and on the highway. Both OTT and Yotawerks kind of market their tunes as this style.

So I guess to start, what makes you say you like the Yotawerks hands-down better than KD?

He also didn't mention the latest KDMax tune either. The XT version, it's better than the previous one, its great. These tune guys keep leap frogging each other...which us clients benefit from. I have not tried OTT so I can't comment. I already have $ wrapped up in other tunes. Any of them are much better than stock.

Okay, I have had time to try KDmax Pro, KDmax Pro xt and OTT. All three tunes are huge improvements over stock with better shifting, far less gear hunting and simply a pleasure to drive.
I have to say that in my experience, customer service has been excellent with Justin and John from OTT and Kreg from KDmax. One example of this is when I had issues flashing a tune, I called John and he walked me through the process and patiently stayed on the phone until my issue was resolved. He has always been helpful and quick to reply with any questions.
My experience with Kreg has been very similar. I reached out to him on TACOMAWORLD and he quickly replied and offered his phone number if I had any issues flashing his tune. He sent me the tunes before I even had the opportunity to pay him! To me, that spoke volumes in trust and confidence in his product.
So, after driving the same roads for a few weeks with each tune, my choice is KDmax Pro. I know people my think I’m crazy for choosing the Pro over the Pro xt or OTT, but it works for my driving habits. I’m used to supercharged and turbo charged trucks, so I like a “snappy” throttle. Obviously, the truck doesn’t run like it’s forced air induction, but I think it does pretty well being just a tune. I believe the truck feels lighter, quicker and just seems to respond better on the Pro tune. I did flash the sport throttle on both the KDmax tunes and the Spicy/extra spicy on the OTT tune for comparison. I just wasn’t feeling either of the other two tunes. Don’t get me wrong, they are great tunes that shift very smoothly and produce good torque, but didn’t have that response I was looking for.
Both Kdmax and OTT are great to work with and have excellent customer service. If you’re on the fence about which tune/tuner, don’t hesitate about either one because you’re in good hands either way.
