I'm not disagreeing, but you could take the stock Toyota tune and adjust for WOT only and get the same results as any other Dyno graph posted here. Those edits are unlikely to affect someone who drives conservatively, i.e. the daily driver.

APR (Audi & VW tuners) did pretty much just that. they'd offer a supplemental warranty to cover what was voided in the factory warranty. the dealer i bought from actually offered APR tunes and parts in house. you could drive your brand new car off the lot with a dealer-installed tune.

Our local VW dealer does that with APR too.

it makes sense given how common tuning is on those vehicles, rather than everyone pretending to look the other way.

So I just got back from the dunes last night . Drove 500 miles round trip. Up and over Snoqualmie pass twice . Did a good amount of piss mobbing in the dunes for a couple days . Hottest trq converter temps I seen were 220°F which it cooled down immediately. I was loaded super heavy. Pulling up the pass 4th held strong . A lot of the time I was in ect 5th gear . On my way home yesterday in to the wind it was 4th gear the whole time till I got to my side of the mountains . Few times I had to downshift to 3rd to pass vehicles . I was getting about 300 mi to the tank doing 60 mph to 75 mph. For having my quad up on end and acting like a wind sail I say this tune definitely has been a major improvement since I had you mod kdmax pro+ . All I gotta say is great work for sure .

Maybe I missed it. Does OTT have octane learning? I currently have OV 2.0 premium and gas prices are making me wish I could run 87, and go back to 91 when I want to without paying for another tune. Plus I am wondering if I would enjoy a little more pep.

From my understanding, all tunes have OL capability via the ecm monitoring the knock sensor and adjusting the timing to compensate.

Unless the tune has been adjusted for a particular octane range (more restrictive than the typical 87+ of course). But that's not common for most of the tunes available for the Tacoma because it can support such a wide range.

OTT is "octane learning". We have a specific premium version if requested, but our standard offering performs more or less the same on premium fuel.

Give us or one of the guy at https://toyotatuningnetwork.com a shout and they'll get you squared away for a test drive.

The overland tune is great.. once you get through the wierd learning phase it really opens up nicely. I'm still planning to raise the shift points a bit, but overall it's MILES ahead of the stock 2021 tune and the Yotatune peeps are amazing. Definitely worth the $, IMO

Yeah, Overland Tailor Tune tends to be the same price as KDMax today. 2 years ago anyone with the software could flash any truck for free. Nowadays, you need to purchase the Pro tuning license, establish a business/LLC, and pay backend costs per truck. The price increase is a tough pill to swallow, but there are a lot of benefits too.

Not only have the tunes improved dramatically compared to 2 years ago, but also the professionalism among 3rd Gen tuners has risen substantially. There are actual best practices that have been developed to minimize risk, and the tuners who you are working with (most likely) have large support groups like www.toyotatuningnetwork.com. It's no longer a random dude with the old OV Tune flasher. It's now professionals with Pro licenses and experience.

My truck was tuned in June 2021 with kdmax 6.0, which I really liked. I upgraded to kdmax pro when it came out, I tried it for 2 weeks, but I didn’t like it at all. I felt that 6.0 was smoother and better, so I had my tuner put me back on 6.0. Just yesterday, I had my truck tuned to OTT 7.0, and it’s a huge improvement. I love this tune, I feel that this tune is perfect and the best option out there right now. I have way more power and it is very smooth. My truck feels light. I highly recommend OTT over kdmax.

Hey everyone, I used to offer the KDMax products in Southern California. Now I offer the Overland Torque Tune by @Boltripper. Our customers who have switched over from KDMax to OTT have a lot to say about how the new tune feels on their trucks.
