    Yes.

It's unlikely you will see a massive change. Get a/the tune and enjoy it. I haven't seen a single person elect to return to stock simply due to their MPG's taking a hit.

Well, I guess I'd be the first then if my MPGs go down because that is what I'm looking for out of the tune.

Tune won't compensate mpgs based on your tire selection.
It'll make your truck driving better, but don't expect the magic.

Lift and bigger tires doesn't either. Maybe lower it then add a sail.

OP, I have a very consistent work commute and since getting the KDMax 9.0 my gas mileage (hand calculated) has dropped about 2mpg. But it drives better with the tune

I have KDMAX 9.0. I would say is the same. I never checked milage before the tune. Im going off what the MPG indicator said on my trip to work before and after the tune.

I have had KDmax for just over 2 months. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm glad to help. ;)

Truck is a 2023 TRD OR A6 with 1.5" lift with Toyo AT3 SL 265/70r17(tires weigh 39lb ea). The number after the = is what I calculated with miles driven/gal at fill up. The number in parenthesis is the mpg calculated by the truck. Gas is Shell 87 octane.

2023 Tacoma mileage log (date miles/gal):
    2/1/23 308.4/17.6 gal = 17.4 mpg
    2/7/23 298.5/16.3 gal = 18.3 mpg
    2/18/23 335.8/18.5 gal = 18.2 mpg (18.7)
    3/4/23 309.3/16.95 gal = 18.2 mpg (18.7)
    3/11/23 39/3.5 gal = 11.1 (11.3)(towing)
    3/23/23 291.7/16.6 gal = 17.6 mpg (18.1)
    3/24/23 106 miles (12.3)(towing)
    3/26/23 81.1/7.26 gal = 11.2 (11.1)(towing)
    4/7/23 308.1/16.7 gal = 18.4 mpg (19.2) after tow
    KDMax 9.0 installed
    4/16/23 306/16.0 gal = 19.1 mpg (19.6)
    4/16/23 322/17.4 gal = 18.4 mpg (18.3)
    4/25/23 335/17.66 gal = 19.0 mpg (19.5)
    5/5/23 322/17.6 gal = 18.3 mpg (18.5)
    5/17/23 319/16.8 gal = 19.0 mpg (19.6)
    5/25/23 255/13.1 gal = 19.4 mpg (20.1)

** Edited to add truck details **

Lol you are asking for the impossible.
    You get a tune.
    You are happy.
You press the go pedal harder.
    You are mpg sad.

This is the way it works.
Nobody presses the go pedal the same after a tune.
    Nobody.

I drive my truck the same after the tune. Based on my experience and the data I posted on post #31 I did get a slight bump in MPG. But I agree 100% that getting a tune to only increase MPG isn't a good enough reason to get a tune.

But, you can't rule out that winter blend fuel was causing your lower MPG's either.

KDMax 10 hurt my fuel economy over OVTune 2.0 Premium. I’m running 275s with 4.88 gears, aluminum armor.

with OVTune I averaged 18, with KDMax 16.7. Fast interstate mileage got worse, like from 18.5 to 15.5.

Nothing else really changed, besides slightly improved shift points (in town), maybe slightly more power, and a punchier throttle. That’s a mpg loss of 7%-15% and a tank range loss of 30-80 miles. So far I am somewhat disappointed with the current KDMax iteration. I’ll re-evaluate if they improve the mpg more. KDMax is for those who want a nice driving experience, NOT mpg.

I think the problem is that it uses 5th gear too much on the highway. Also I suspect they totally disabled the Atkinson cycle.

What are you doing providing ACTUAL data! This is definitely not the Tacoma World way. You need to post comments about how bad or good it is BEFORE you get tuned. Just like the tool reviews at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

I tuned a friend of mine last year who has a bone stock Taco and he about cried when his mileage dropped from 22 (admitted grandpa driving style) to 15
After two tanks it jumped up to 22.5-23. So he was happy.

I saw a slight increase in MPGs with my premium SFOB tune but I’m running 94E0 chevron so I’m not saving anything. Truck runs amazing though.

I got the KDMAX tune for my 2016 2.7L and the LCE Long tube header and it took a bit of time for the truck to learn my driving style. Up until a month ago I was averaging ~ 370 ish miles per 18 gal of fuel or about 20 MPG. That's 60% highway and 40% in town. Last month my OEM battery died. I replaced it and immediately if felt like I had put a new tune in it. There was a rough idle at stoplights that disappeared and overall the performance improved. Surprisingly, my 1st full tank netted me 413 miles, 2nd tank 403, this last one was 418, ~23mpg. All the above said I shift into S6 when I get on the highway and pretty much leave it there, running 68 - 73 MPH at ~2K RPMS. Tune? New battery? Computer reset? Dunno but more info for the mix.

    Cheers,

    Doc
