From having to press the ECT Power button to even drive my truck normally for so long, it took me a few weeks after the tune before the urge to press it, after I started the truck, to go away. Now the thought of pressing it does not happen anymore when starting the truck. It took a while but I am past it now, ECT Power button pressed in is just not needed anymore. I will use that feature now as the "Pedal Commander Sport + mode" does.

Flashed the Reg-KDMax-XT tune this afternoon and what a nice improvement over the 2.0 premium tune I've been running for the last year and change. Much smoother and no more rev hang coming out of first. But beyond the quality of the tune where @PapaRee gets HUGE points in my book is his responsiveness. Multiple times he answered my phone calls or text messages when I reached out with stupid questions and was beyond helpful. Kreg is the definition of excellent customer service, thank you sir!!

Well after a couple thousand Kms since tuning our 2016 with 6MT I feel confident in giving my review.

Bumpers front and back, full skids and sliders, canopy and sleeping platform. Sitting right at GVRW when loaded.

Reason for tuning was the added weight has had obvious effects on drivability. Struggling to pull hills through the mountains, slow acceleration, etc etc.

Tune has improved all aspects, if you’re on the fence, pull the trigger. You won’t regret it.

Photo taken at 8600’ on the top of Canoe Mountain. An hour long ascent in 4low.

That's what I'm here for, the mods and the gear.
I forgot how I ended up on this specific thread. But I read through the first and last pages (no way in hell I'm reading all 103!), and your post is exactly how I feel about my 2018 OR. And I liked your "pros" list. But I am stupid ignorant when it comes to tuning. Is this something I can do on my own via youtube videos or help from TW members in the Wisconsin/Green Bay area? Or would I be better off contacting your guy In Minnesota?

I’d suggest contacting Richard @TacoOnIce and talk your expectations through with him. He’ll be able to quickly point you in the right direction.

if you prefer to do your own research, this is a good thread (first two posts)

So I am now at a two thousand miles on Reg SLT and filling the tank with 89 octane. Haven't encountered any major negative impacts. Over this past weekend we took a couple family trips to the In-laws and to the beach. Most of the drives were on the freeway or highway and covered flat and mountainous terrain. I am still sitting on stock suspension...for now with out any significant increase in load.

MPG is still holding strong with no noticeable decrease, I was staying around 20-21 average for most of our trip. The only thing I was noticing was the shifting when I encountered an incline while using constant cruise control, not radar/adaptive (I hate that feature). When I was at hwy speeds (65-75) and encountered an incline it would shift down to 5th or 4th, depending on the angle, to keep to the set speed. Once I hit the crest of the hill and it flattened back out it wouldn't always shift back up to 5/6th, I would say 85% of the time it wouldn't shift up. I often times gave it some time to see if it would figure it out on its own but it didn't. Once I tapped the accelerator just a hair it would shift up to 6th.

On a day to day basis I am not hitting those speeds going to work, I usually stay under 60 during my drive so its not something I encounter daily. If this was something I encountered on a daily basis I would definitely get annoyed by it.

I have seen other people mention this in the past and wanted to provide my experience as well.

Now all of that being said I am very pleased with the tune and don't regret it at all.

Try running non-adaptive CC in S6. S-mode uses a different shift map and it doesn’t seem to have the 4th gear hang some experience. Give it a shot and report back.

Can someone tell me about how this tune was developed for M/T trucks, being that the tune's creators both own Auto trucks?

Note rpms. If you are at 3000 , you are in 4th. 4-5 Upshift is the issue going back to stock, 2.0 and all other tunes. I've been chasing the fix since introduction of vF and have not had any luck. I've played with upshift tables, started messing with opt torque tables and the issues is still there. Sometimes it works under heavy acceleratoration ( around 80 mph), but under normal driving conditions like you mentioned it does not work. Use S mode to force up shift
Some said they had a fix, but never shared their data. Collaboration is no longer a thing...

Most of the time it was sitting in 5th going ~70mph sitting around 2300rpm but once I tapped on the accelerator it went into 6th and dropped to about 1700rpm. Only a handful of times did it hang in 4th around 3200rpm.

I made my changes and got MT guys to test it, then made changes, then got MT guys to test it and when it was where we wanted it we monitored it for months to make sure everything was within normal limits.
To answer your question, having Manual transmission testers is how we did it.

5 to 6 is easy to adjust. I would ask to drop upshift speed for 20 and up throttle by 2 and test.

Nope, follow the threads and the answer was there, no assumptions, not being rude, just plenty of testers talking & posting
