Just tuned my truck with the KDMAX tune tonight… what a difference!! This is what I’ve wanted the whole time! In my opinion and my opinion only (no disrespect to Mat) it is leaps and bounds above 2.0 final. There’s no dead spot in the bottom of the throttle, the throttle response has improved DRAMATICALLY, and the truck downshifts at the perfect time without having to mash the throttle to get moving. I could not be happier with it! Best $150 I’ve ever spent!

    Glad to hear it!
Just so everyone knows, he did his tune himself with his VFtuner and cable. The $150 is for the KDMax tunepack--All throttle choices in both premium and regular octane.
The price to have someone else tune your truck for you is higher.

Correct. That was after I spent $350 on VFTuner, $390 on OVTune tune packs, and $170 on the cable. The KDMAX tune is fantastic. Whatever it costs to have someone do it for you is worth it!

This is definitely a factor! My other car is a turbocharged inline 6cyl, which as you said, does benefit significantly more than a NA motor from this modification. Regardless, at some point I'll probably still try it and throw it on a dyno to check because I have more money than brains. Thank you kind sir!

Edit: Sorry for getting off-topic in this thread. In sum, the KDMAX tune rocks go get it.

I was on the fence about this since I haven't had much woes with my '21 compared to some of the others here.

Got my tune done by @Magiriano (Alex) this morning. HOLY smokes! I am a believer now. Ended up going with the regular aggressive throttle over the LT.
    BEST. MOD. EVER

Update: After 24hrs with the KDMax Tune... :D:thumbsup::bikewhoops: Incredible difference in throttle response, power, AT shifting points. Best investment in a mod so far!

I would definitely experiment if I was you. I think Matt dynoed the downtubes at something like 30-35hp gain. I don't exactly remember the numbers, but it wasn't zero.

Can anyone tell me their experience going over small hills or overpasses?
Does the tune hold the gears longer before downshifting?

I've had my KDMax (Regular Throttle) tune for a week now and here's my quick review:

    • Day 1 took some getting used to since I used to mash the gas from a standstill to get moving and now I don't have to. It now accelerates like you would expect any normal vehicle to.
    • I should also mention that it felt like the transmission was learning my driving habits again. Felt like it was a little unsure of itself for the first ~5 miles, but maybe it was all in my head. This went away quickly.
    • Throughout the week I also found myself bracing for downshifts on my typical commute, only to find that it just stays in the right gear and doesn't slam into a lower gear anymore lol.
    • I noticed there's not as dramatic of a "vtec" effect when you hit 3.5k RPM now. Its still there, but the power is all over, not just after 3.5k.

Overall very pleased with this, would def recommend.

I sent a PM to my local tuner today and I think this is what I’m most excited about.

It’s such a noticeable issue in my truck that even my wife complains about the lurching the truck does when it downshifts when she’s in the passenger seat. She frequently asks me why I’m braking and I have to explain to her that it’s just the transmission.

I’ve definitely had to learn to brace myself for it as well, unfortunately.

Who is the current "tuner" for the Asheville NC area? Thanks in advance.

So I see that a lot of people are saying that they are getting better mpg. How does the tune give you better mpg? To me it would seem like the gears holding longer would make you mpg go down? I just ask because this would be the main reason I would want the tune.
    Thanks

How do I go about getting a tune in the Thousand Oaks 91320 area (30 mins outside of LA)? I'm fine to drive an hour or two, just wondering who I should talk to for this?

    Thanks

@montanacruiser Kd max developers and tuners never advertised this to gain mpg from stock although the majority including me gained a few It really depends on ones driving habits . Every once in while while when driving aggressively, mpg dropped as expected. Btw , I’m back to stock tune ( selling my taco soon) and stock tune just not my cup of tea .
