adding my 2 cents on the KDmax tune for heavy weighted modded trucks… DONT be afraid of the of “aggressive” tip in because with a lot of weight on your truck it’s not aggressive and it’s really needed to get this thing moving! i’ve only had the tune for a week but i’m definitely liking it so far. I tried the LT tip in at first but it just wasn’t enough or impressive for the amount of weight i have

Got the KDMaxx tune over the Labor Day weekend. Had to make the trip to Chicago from the Milwaukee Wi area as there are no tuners local to me or the Midwest it seems. @NickJacq23 aka Big Dawgs Taco Tuning made the trip up from TN.

Skip to the next paragraph if you don’t want to read my rambling….
I’ve had this truck for over two years. It’s my daily driver to and from work ~ 20 miles. I also use it to haul my fishing gear and fishing boat. I traded a 2016 Tundra Crew Max to get back into a Tacoma. I was really bummed when I first got this truck and thought I made a huge mistake. After driving it for about 3000 miles I was ready to take a loss and get out of it because of the terrible shifting condition and lack of power. Previous to the Tundra I had a 2nd Gen Tacoma. I expected the. 3rd gen to be similar. I was very wrong. Once I got Toyota to reflash the TCM with the most recent update it improved the truck enough for me to deal with the shortcomings. After researching the available tunes I thought I’d give it a go once I had the chance. Fast forward a bit and the KDMax tune came out

Drove the truck back from Chicago and over the weekend….all I can say is Thank You. The truck finally drives like I always wanted it to. Power isn’t necessarily improved but the throttle response and transmission response is perfect. A huge improvement. My GF who was with me and usually is in my truck even noticed the difference from the passengers seat. Her words “it feels like it drives like it always should have”. Couldn’t agree more. All that said, what is required to become a tuner? I ask because I don’t think there are any people in the Midwest doing this and I’m happy to be the guy. I worked in automotive dealer service for 15 years as a service tech, advisor, service manager, parts manger etc. So I know my way around cars and trucks. In my new career, I design, build and program PLC controlled automated machinery. I think I might be a good candidate to become a tuner for the Midwest if you’re looking for someone.

To become one of our Pro tuners, it takes an investment in time and money.
Each Pro tuner has to have the ability to:
-use techstream/CUW files to do TSB updates along with 12volt power supply.
-use VFtuner to flash trucks and buy the software with the Pro tuner upgrade.
-be in an area that is not directly competing with another Pro tuner.

Are there KDMAX decals available for those of us that aren't concerned about warranty issues?

 

I will talk to Dave about getting some vinyl decals made. And we will post them here on the thread.

Is there thread that explains what the differences are in the tunes from kdmaxx?

 

The tunes are the same--We just have one—the KDMax tune.
The difference is the Throttle choices. People started requesting different "tip-in" from the beginning, so we made different choices in Throttle tip-in. That is it.
Also, there are custom tunes for Gears and AGM batteries on request.
It is all in the first post, but here you go.



Auto Transmission
-----------------------
-Normal/Regular is most aggressive throttle
-LT=Light throttle tip in- lower throttle by 10%.
-SLT= Super Light throttle tip in- 10% lower than LT (still higher than 2.0).
-WifeTip= Stock throttle settings


Manual transmission
-----------------------
-XXT- Aggressive throttle
-XT- More throttle in all gears than stock, but lighter than XXT

 

Current stickers available now are 4"x 4"



New vinyl sticker design 6"W x 2.5"H order placed today should be ready in a week or less.

 

I can also get different color trucks in the design to match your truck.

Got my 16 TRD OR DCLB tuned last night by Dave in Maryland. I bought the truck new in 2016 and the 83 mile drive home was the happiest I’ve been since owning it, went with the LT.

 

I got the Kdmax tune installed 10 days ago. At first it was very noticeable but after 7 days and 3/4 of a tank later it feels like before the tune. I have 40k miles of experience on the stock tuned truck so I'm pretty sure its not just in my head. Did anyone else experience this? Can I reupload the tune? This was my first time tuning a vehicle.
